They will seek six to 14 months of jail time, while the defense will seek probation. A sentencing date has not been set.
Britt Reid brandished a handgun at another motorist in suburban Philadelphia on Jan. 30, the same day his brother was arrested for a drug-related traffic crash, police said.
Defense lawyer William Winning said afterward his client admitted what he did and was remorseful.
Besides the firearms charge, Reid also pleaded guilty to simple assault, possession of an instrument of crime and drug possession. Misdemeanor charges of making terroristic threats, making a false statement to law enforcement and possessing drug paraphernalia were dropped.
Reid owned the semiautomatic handgun but did not have a license to carry it on the street, Senior Deputy Attorney General Marc Costanzo said."
PA state law says nothing about open-carry, making it de facto legal. Therefore, one does NOT need a permit to open-carry in PA, EXCEPT...but of course...for Philadelphia. There's a gigunda difference between LAW versus POLICY though, particularly in quasi-commie states such as PA that allow individual city's to make their own laws that supersede both the State AS WELL AS the Constitution's version of Rights and Liberty. As long as the gun wasn't concealed, TECHNICALLY there was no crime committed.
This would have been a terrific 2nd Amendment case; rich kid with the money to afford the best lawyers, but for one little thing...
His Dad is a bigshot in the NFL and that means rolling over and playing dead. On the gun charges, that is. The drugs and brandishing were simple stupidity. The authorized journalists reporting upon this case are idiots for not clarifying the LAW, but then again they're leftwing commies and hate guns so what ELSE should we have expected.
But just imagine; not having broken the law with regards to the carrying without a license deal, possessing the wherewithal to fight this indignity to the max, but admitting guilt just to be the nice guy.
Boggles.
