The vote yesterday by the council's public safety committee means the bill will go to the full council next week.
Supports believe that requiring gun offenders to register their addresses with police will help police find and arrest more gun criminals. Citizens could call police to get information about gun offenders in their neighborhood.
Gun offenders who fail to register could face jail time.
New York City has a similar registry, but it does not include a public database. Chicago, Boston and San Francisco are considering creating registries."
Why is it ya think, that the towns with the highest rates of criminal mayhem'ishness are liberal ones that believe disarming the good guys is a way to stick it to the bad guys?
"Gun-offender" can mean anyone caught with a firearm in their home, and not a street hoodlum who's used a gat to steal grandma's SS check. It's all the same to liberals. Except the fact that a criminal, you see, doesn't have to disclose ownership of an illegal firearm because that would be forcing the poor lads into self-incrimination. The laws don't mean a damn thing to them to begin with, so as usual the only people such lunatic laws are directed to harm are...
The law abiding.
Who, as you might have guessed, are no longer law-abiding and have since become criminals for nothing more than exercising 2nd Amendment rights. Then, these new "criminals" are prosecuted, the conviction rates go sky-high, and the lefty lawyers, judges, and politicians can then crow about how effective they've been at curtailing crime.
When you can't catch the real crooks, change the rules to instantaneously make some more crooks who are infinitely easier to perform No-Knocks on.
Thanks to The War on Guns.
