Legal Immigrants, Who and From Where?

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported that 15 percent of all persons becoming Legal Permanent Residents (LPR) in the United States in 2009 were born in Mexico. China was second with 5.7 percent, and then the Philippines (5.3 percent), India (5.1 percent) and the Dominican Republic (4.4 percent) finished out the top five.  Those countries alone accounted for 35 percent of all new LPRs in 2009.

BusinessWeek reports that remittances are “Mexico’s No. 2 source of foreign income after oil exports.” A remittance is money sent by mail, usually in the form of a gift. Mexico is the world’s third largest recipient of remittances (behind only India and China). BusinessWeek also reports that the amount of money migrant workers sent home in the first half of 2010 fell 4.1 percent compared with the same period last year. Remittances totaled $10.63 billion in the first six months, down from $11.1 billion in the first half of 2009. Therefore, stricter policies against illegal immigration in America would negatively impact Mexico’s economy. This perhaps explains Mexico’s vehement protest against SB1070.

Uh huh. The SECOND source of Mexico's foreign in-come... out-goes from the United States, and therein lies the true rub.

Since Mexico itself...blessed with a plethora of magnificent natural, as a nation, more corrupt than even Cuba, it must sustain itself upon monies STOLEN from someone else.

When the Mafia does this, its called racketeering; when a democrat controlled Congress does it, then its called taxes. But at least both of the above gangs are American citizens. Fighting over an ever diminishing pot to purloin from. And BOTH do regular business with Mexican nationals; the Mob as it acquires goods and services from south of the border, and the democrats as they strive ever mightily to enlarge their constituency.

Instantly legalizing 20-some-odd million unauthorized Mexicans automatically engorges the democrat coffers, and our liberals are desperate to divert the home-to-Mehico money back to Washington. They don't give two squats about Mexicans or Mexico, but cannot bear to see all of that cash being flushed down to Beanerville when all those folks will do with it is eat, pay rent, and buy clothes for their kids.

Legal immigrants are, generally speaking, you see, better educated and therefore more likely to suffer less during the 4 month waiting period necessary to obtaining a green card. Coming in with more resources, and smarts, means not as likely to fall for the usual liberal bullswaddle, and that's why our libs like 'em barefoot and pregnant whenever possible.

You don't see a big liberal push to streamline the waiting period for that green card, or to educate illegals as to the true damage they are doing to the country, because the longer it takes the more likely Juan, Juanita, and the Juanettes are to go underground and become criminals.

And not for nothing, because I hate to generalize, cough, but if incoming Mexicans are so terrific a group of people then why is Mexico in the crapper and NEVER crawling out on its own? Could you even begin to imagine what Mexico would be like if the Israelis and Mexicans swapped countries?

Yeah, I know. Then the Palestinians would soon follow and come to the conclusion that fossilized droppings found in Texas and California belonged to Mohammed's flying horse and demand the return of those holy territories.
