Even if he beats the jail time...

...Which he should not, at least there's one less bad cop to worry about, and for the rest of his life he'll be prohibited from owning a firearm. This is what the entitlement-generation brings to the table:

"It seems everybody loves Jeffrey Rivera - even the Queens jury that convicted him yesterday of shooting a woman.

"I know if I tell you, it would get back to the judge that we would like to see leniency toward him," a juror told the Daily News minutes after the verdict. "I don't think anybody wants to see him go to jail."

Rivera, 25, who had just graduated from the Police Academy, was "showing off" his Glock 9-mm. at 2:30 a.m. at a pal's Ozone Park home on July 22, 2004, when the gun went off, prosecutors said.

The bullet badly wounded his girlfriend's sister in the chest. But victim Justina Diaz, 19, was a reluctant prosecution witness, downplaying her injury despite medical evidence showing its severity.

She also surprised everyone in the courtroom of Queens Supreme Court Justice Joel Blumenfeld when she testified that Rivera had a rag with him - supporting his story that he was cleaning the weapon when it went off accidentally. She hadn't mentioned the rag before, prosecutors said.
"I know Jeffrey for 11 years," Diaz testified. "He wouldn't even hurt a fly - know what I mean?"

The jury deliberated for more than three and a half days after the week-long trial, and several jurors wiped away tears after the verdict.
Rivera was convicted of reckless assault and could face up to seven years behind bars.

"This was a very emotional decision," the juror said. "It's not like he was shooting up a school. It was moronic, but you just hope he learns his lesson and doesn't do anything this stupid again."

Rivera, the father of a 4-year-old son, remains free on $10,000 bail. He turned down a no-jail deal before the trial and was cocky afterward.
"I'm not going to jail for this," he said. "It was an accident. I think the jurors thought ... well, I don't think they know what they think."

Yes, the little scumbag fired a bullet into an innocent person, and say's he doesn't deserve hail time. Well sorry about that, Mr. I'm A Minority With Special Privleges, but you were negligent and reckless, what you did was NOT an accident, and if the judge doesn't slap you with at least 3 years behind bars then the NY judicial system is more screwed than I thought.

But know what? His lawyers, cough, dirtbags, will argue that he's an ex-cop who will not be treated fairly in prison, and the weepy judge will take that into consideration alongside his MINORITY status.

And they really want to legalize another 11 million more?
