UT student arrested for gun on campus

A University of Texas student was arrested Tuesday for carrying a firearm on campus.

According to an arrest affidavit, 20-year-old Jason Liao talked about going on a mission that involved a gun.

University police Chief Robert Dahlstrom said Liao had issues that the police were aware of that would cause red flags to go up.

On Liao's MySpace homepage, the engineering student displays various photographs of him. Two pictures show Liao flaunting a handgun to the camera with a cigarette in his mouth.

This information prompted authorities to initiate the new and heretofore untested Code-Yellow-Alert, a nationwide response that immediately causes all schools in the country to go under lockdown for a minimum of 24 hours.

"Hey we caught the guy but you can't be too safe," Chief Dahlstrom told reporters, "the kid could have stashed one of those mini rocket ships like you see on some TV shows and been in Oregon for all we know in the blink of an eye."

Because of the possible deleterious effect this may have had upon students across the country, mental health specialists are being flown in from nations around the world to assist in counsellings.
