Allah has been subbing for Michelle Malkin, and as an old fan of his it was good to see him get a hit-smacking gig. I do tire of the incessant johnny-one-note theme Michelle has opted for, but she's cute and speaks well and is a Conservative Media darling so do what works for you, I suppose.
But back to Allah. He was doing HIS schtick all alone way back when, and a great many folk feared for his safety. Blogging as a whole hadn't learned that the way to success lay within the portals of mad-dogging your way to glory, and in Allah's case I say this with admiration. Nothing like a good writer who can go off the deep end and rant when need be.
But stay away from Blog-Workshops, and laugh at but never believe a word of what Dennis the Peasant has to say about becoming popular. A couple years back I started a blog on AOL, went into the Conservative chat rooms, and was getting 1200 hits on a good day by doing nothing more than posting a few I-Hate-Liberals stories every now and again. If one were to seriously work at it, AOL is the perfect place to attract an audience, if an audience is what you want. Can't be done otherwise, being successfull enough to make a decent buck or two, unless you've played footsy with a mega-blog who thinks yer purdy, or are willing to spend your own money like frickin crazy, and/or be a link whore to everyone and everything that can draw a crowd.
Location, location, location.
And remember; real writers write, and Blogging is not writing. Blogging is a diary of one's rants. There is no fussing with characterization, plot, sub-plot, narrative thread, or any of the dozen other things a writer must contend with. And I won't even go into what a screenplay can do to a man. If it's being a writer that strikes the fancy, then get any one of several decent books on the how-to's, write till you can't write anymore, then find representation. No one can write and sell at the same time. If it's successful blogging you aspire to, then go the mega-ISP route to draw an audience, pay for your own blog-space because all Google does is allow you to play when they're good and ready to make it work. That's one of the reasons I could care less that on occasion lunatics or spammers post here in the comment section. I do not own this blog, nor do I even lease this blog. And besides, who gives a frig. It's the internet for chrissake, no one's paying any attention.
