"France has been a strong supporter of Arab causes after King Faisal’s state visit and crucial meeting with President Charles de Gaulle days before the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. France’s stand against..."

Uh huh. King Faisal PAID a state visit to de Gaulle all right. They were certain of a complete and utter victory as long as the West refrained from aiding the Jews. Charlie took the cash and France has been taking it from the moslems for the last 40 years.

Very interesting. I was not paying much attention to world affairs in those days but now it all makes sense.

My Dad's generation had fought WWII, and to a person they despised de Gaulle, particulary the men who'd returned from Europe. The nanosecond that a small item appeared on the news about de Gaulle receiving an Arab potentate, I can vividly recall my Father saying, "Oh shit. The Jews are gone."

My grandpa fought in France in WWI and he hated the French with a passion. He always said that he felt far more comfortable with armed Germans in front of him than with armed Frenchmen behind him.

Also, remember Heinlein's definition of an honest politician. One who stays bought.

I miss old Bob's words of wisdom. Man could hit the nail on the head time after time, couldn't he.
