Carjacker Beats 91-Year-Old Man

"A 91-year-old World War II veteran was repeatedly beaten in the head by a carjacker in Detroit as a group of people stood by watching.

The beating was caught on surveillance tape outside a Detroit party store. Soon after the tape was released, a 22-year-old man was arrested in connection with the beating. Local news reports say a second man and a woman who accompanied the suspected assailant were also arrested.

The victim, Leonard Sims, is bruised but says he's doing better every day. He was punched in the head 21 times, and was caught between his car door and the car next to his during the attack so he could not escape.

Sims told a local news report that the incident began when his assailant asked for a light.

"He kind of caught me off guard because when he came up and asked for a light, he punched me," Sims said.

"It's very hard to believe because my husband is a very kind person," said his wife, Nora.

A local police chief said the crime is "one of the most heinous" she's seen in years and is upset the bystanders did nothing."

It is illegal to carry a gun in Detroit. Unless you've been anointed as a special person, that is. The 91 year-old veteran obviously was not. And of course the eloi looked on helplessly as our brother in arms was severely beaten. They've been programmed to run from trouble, to flee when standing to fight is called for. Another reason to take back America. If not for us then for future generations who might, if we work very, very hard, learn what it ONCE was to be an American.

UPDATE: Spotlight On Detroit

Kwame Kilpatrick is Detroit's Mayor. Kwame's answer to budget problems has been to propose a tax on fast food. Kwame stands 6-4 and weighs in excess of 300 pounds, so perhaps hizzoner will be in effect taxing himself. Seeing as how Kwame was fined by the IRS for using $8600 from the city's Civic Fund to take his family on vacation to the 5 Star Costa Resort and Spa in California, it's good to see him wanting to finally give back some of what he's stolen.

Here's where I happen to agree with Detroit's No-Gun policy. I wouldn't trust Kwame with one, no how, no way.
