New York Post Online Edition: postopinion
September 1, 2005 -- "Anyone who thinks that two controversial museums proposed for Ground Zero can be trusted should look at a conference slated for Downtown next week, the fourth anniversary of 9/11.
"What Comes After: Cities, Art + Recovery" bills itself as "An International Summit" meant "to honor the 60th anniversary of the United Nations."
Behind the event are some of the same people shaping the future of Ground Zero and the museums — the International Freedom Center (IFC) and the Drawing Center.
The "international" theme is but a tipoff: Look at the Web posting (lmcc.net/recovery) by its sponsor, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC). One event, an exhibition called "A Knock at the Door," will challenge "the assumption that there is a clear line defining so-called 'threatening' or 'un-American' art."
How? Maybe with "art" by Chris Hackett. He's making a model of a bomb for the event. Yes, his past work literally exploded in his face; other featured "artists," too, have had run-ins with the law.
It gets worse: Honorees include the late writer Susan Sontag and professor Edward Said. Recall Sontag's view of 9/11? "This was not a 'cowardly' attack on 'civilization' or 'liberty' . . . but an attack . . . undertaken as a consequence of specific American alliances and actions."
That is, America got what it deserved."
It's becoming old news, liberal swine wishing to sate their unquenchable thirst for attention by leaping upon the slumped shoulders of the fallen, and if we the people do not keep our eyes upon these vermin, they'll do what vermin do, and civilization simply cannot allow such a travesty.
Unless they volunteer to hoist a shovel and actually do some work, let's keep these lunatics AWAY from Ground Zero. France is always looking for anti-American work, and I'm sure their vomit-inducing "art" will be received warmly by the snail eaters. Wherever, as long as it's not here.
