Clash Over Speeding Turns Fatal

THONOTOSASSA - "Charles C. Podany wanted the men in the truck to slow down.

Officials said that's why the Thonotosassa resident rode his bicycle over to a white pickup at 11:40 p.m. Friday to talk to the driver after seeing the truck speed in and out of his neighborhood, Hillsborough County sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.

The passenger in the truck grew angry. He jumped out, took off his shirt and punched Podany, knocking him to the ground, the sheriff's office said.

With his attacker on top of him and about to strike again, Podany was in fear of his life and felt trapped, according to an arrest report written by Deputy Dale Bunten.

Podany pulled out his .40-caliber Glock handgun and fired twice, the report says.

Casey Landes, 24, of Wesley Chapel was hit in the face and died instantly, Carter said."

My inclusion of this story isn't to wrangle about who was right and who was wrong, but dollars to doughnuts this case doesn't even go to trial as the police reacted in a manner not very agreeable with Florida law, but again, that isn't the point.

One shot from a G-23 or G-27 landed and it was lights out.

From a puny handgun. One shot, one kill.

This is going to drive the chairborne commando's insane.

Time after time as I follow such stories, the shooter doesn't empty a magazine but rarely fires more than two or three times to end the hostilities.
