Florida Police Hunt Man in Video Beating, Robbing Elderly Victim

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — "Florida police on Saturday were looking for a man shown in surveillance video with two others jumping an elderly man and taking his money after he had left a convenience store, NBC6.net reports.

"They threw him on the hood of the car," Kathy Collins of the Fort Lauderdale Police Department says in the story. "One of the three suspects, after robbing the victim, turned around and went back into the convenience store to finish a video game that he was playing."

In the footage, the 63-year-old is seen walking out of the Star Food convenience store. A man in a black tank top is shown distracting the victim as another in a T-shirt accosts him from behind and puts him in a chokehold, NBC6.net reports.

Police say the men had watched the victim use a one hundred-dollar bill to complete his $20 purchase and waited for him to leave the store to get his wallet, the story says.

The 63-year-old escaped with minor injuries."

It isn't easy staying at the top of one's game at 63. And not everyone is as aware of their environment as the usual suspects who regularly peruse this blog, but I pretty much figure we'd all agree that flashing a C-Note in front of young black men isn't exactly the smartest move to make. Unless its bait and you are awaiting a confrontation with more than they are prepared to deal with.

Happens all the time, every day, in every place they frequent across these United States.

A lesson to us all to remain on our toes.
