UCF Students Fight For Guns On Campus

"Carrying a gun onto a college campus on Florida is a felony. But in the aftermath of last month’s deadly shootings at Northern Illinois University, some students at the University of Central Florida are fighting for the right to bear arms at school.

Patrick Hale is the president of the Knight Rifle Association, a 50-member group of students championing that fight. Hale said the law preventing students from bringing guns to campus flies in the face of the Bill of Rights.

"You can go into Wal-Mart, you can go to a hotel or restaurant, and there are people carrying guns,” he said. “And for some reason when you come on campus you lose your right to carry. You lose your Second Amendment, and we think that's, you know, it's just ridiculous."

But Hale said the fight is about more than civil liberties – it’s about safety."What we're saying is people who are 21 years old, and they have the concealed weapons permit, they can carry anywhere else,” Hale said. “We feel that they should have the right to be able to defend themselves and their fellow classmates from someone coming in and just shooting."

Never, ever, happen.

There's a good reason Florida doesn't have a State income tax.

Tourists.

The state subsists upon two things, citrus and tourists. That's the reason open-carry was tossed in the trash bin after a trial period, back when Florida began the concealed carry fad and the politicians decided that law abiding folks should be able to carry a gun any way they saw fit. Then the various Chambers of Commerce threw hissy fits galore, and of course the Police Chiefs and Sheriffs organizations jumped in and squealed until the political hired help backed down.

Bad enough that the Soccer-Moms would faint dead away in droves after seeing full grown men with big oily ggggg-guns, but since an armed society is a polite society, criminals would seek greener pastures and every cop-shop around would see its SWAT funding disappear and whats the sense of having a super cool job that lets you do things that regular people can't do, if the bloody regular people are doing it too?

Don't frighten the rubes and don't tread on cop-turf. Every state with anything resembling a big city has businesses that despise people with guns, and cops that do too.

Virtually all of Florida's schools of higher learning(?) are open campuses, and that means, especially in and about Orlando, that the commies from up North and out West might stumble upon a group of healthy young Americans who are packing heat.

And that means they'd stay home. As for me, hell, I'd rather pay a state income tax and say to hell with the two-ton-Tessie's who gorge themselves into a coma when visiting the Gunshine State.

NO ONE in charge of such matters, not here in Florida, not there in Ill-Annoy, gives two shits about the safety of kids in school. Liberals ALWAYS believe that the average person is so very dumb as to be incapable of handling potentially dangerous devices, so its keep them sheep-ified and hope for the best.

I'd say pray for the best but we all know that libs don't believe there could possibly be a being higher than themselves.
