George Will Has Questions For Senator Schumer

September 4, 2005 -- NEW York Sen. Charles Schumer, a member of the Judiciary Committee and an author of the Democrats' catechism regarding constitutional reasoning, soon will be questioning John Roberts.

Herewith some questions someone should ask Schumer:
Does Congress have the power to require Americans to floss after brushing their teeth? Or to regulate the amount of homework children do each night?

Well, it's like this George. Fact of the matter is, they just haven't gotten around to it yet. Check back in, say 20, 30 years, and the Constitution will be interpreted to mean all sorts of fun stuff. That's why its so damned important to get as many sane jurists appointed to the Supreme Court - not that it'll stop the lefties from trying to mandate that all non-minority children MUST do this or that - but having a sane group of black robes around to squelch such nonsense comforts me. It does. Nearly as much as a full magazine and an open field of fire. Damn, lemme stop before I get all weepy here...
