Yet another reason NOT to live in Maryland

Stem Cell Bill Advances in House

Democrats in the Maryland House of Delegates yesterday turned back several Republican attempts to alter a bill that would provide state money for stem cell research, clearing the way for passage by the end of the week.

House Minority Whip Anthony J. O'Donnell argued that the state should let grant proposals "compete on their merits," regardless of whether the research uses embryonic stem cells or the less controversial adult stem cells.
Both lines of research have shown promise for treatment of a range of debilitating diseases. But O'Donnell and other conservatives object to embryonic work because it involves the destruction of a human embryo."

"Show promise" my ass. The Dums are convinced that the best way for them to live forever is to back the embryonic research simply because they've bought into the razzle-dazzle bullshit hook, line, and sinker as the quickest path to immortality. I've really tried to be fair with this one but have never been able to find an instance where an unbiased researcher has favored embryionic versus adult cellular research. Not saying such evidence isn't out there, or that I'm an expert, but what with all that's gone on with the phony Korean lab results I'm more doubtful than ever. And it's disgusting, simply disgusting that the party of slavery not only condones killing millions of babies but applaudes using them for their frankenstinian experiments as well.

If you wrote a science fiction screenplay around a certain type of politician favoring legalized abortion because the "back-alley" ones wasted perfectly good stem cells, you'd be laughed out of any decent producers office halfway through your pitch.
