“Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process.”
Nancy Pelosi in December of 1998 as she was bolstering Bill Clinton's rhetoric of how important it was to begin focusing upon Iraq. Slick Willy dropped smart bombs on Iraq whenever it was necessary to shift focus away from whatever scandal he was attempting to duck from, but his intelligence was not in error. The best intel services in the world were emphatically saying that not only did Saddam have weapons, but that in 3 years he'd have a nuke as well. His 4-day bombing of Iraq in what was know as Deny-Christmas '08 was an attempt to hit some of the "known" Weapons of Mass Destruction sites, but most were left untouched for fear of collateral damages. Therefore, ANY investigations into why we went to war with Iraq should begin with Ms Pelosi, and with Mr. Clinton, for there were the harbingers of what was to come. THEY believed Saddam to be a serious threat, THEY believed he had dreadful weapons of war.
Were they lying? Should we shut the doors to the Senate and find out?
