DNC "Slimes" Alito

I found the link here: Bench Memos on National Review Online

DNC Slimes Alito[Jonathan Adler 11/01 07:21 AM]
"It wasn't supposed to be for attribution, but the DNC staffers who wrote the talking points sliming Judge Alito — talking points that Chris Matthews labeled "disgusting" and "amazingly bad politics" — forgot to take clean the metadata before forwarding the MSWord document. RedState has the goods here."

And here's some of "the goods":

"Based on his Third Circuit opinions, Alito has established himself as a potential foe to immigrants, reproductive rights, and civil liberties."

Alito Embarrassed Government by Failing to Obtain Crucial Mafia Conviction
U.S. Attorney Alito Failed to Obtain Conviction of 20 Mobsters, Saying “You Can’t Win Them All.”

Federal law enforcement agencies sustained a major rebuff in their anti-mafia campaign with the August 1988 acquittal of all 20 defendants accused of making up the entire membership of the Lucchese family in the New Jersey suburbs of New York. The verdict ended what was believed to be the nations longest federal criminal trial and according to the Chicago Tribune, dealt the government a “stunning defeat.” Samuel Alito, the US Attorney on the case, said, “Obviously we are disappointed but you realize you can’t win them all.” Alito also said he had no regrets about the prosecution but in the future would try to keep cases “as short and simple as possible.” Alito continued, “I certainly don’t feel embarrassed and I don’t think we should feel embarrassed.” [Guardian, 8/29/88; Chicago Tribune, 8/27/88; UPI, 8/26/88]

Follow the link from NRO to the much talked about DNC memo that went out, the one that had Chris Matthews of Oddball, strike that, Hardball, so "disgusted".

Sorry, but I don't see an ethnic slur here, just an attempt to show a certain level of incompetence and a so-what demeanor. All in all, the entire document is pretty much what you'd expect from the DNC, scare tactics and not much else, but we've all seen worse campaign commercials on television so I'm not jumping thorough the same hoop as most everyone else in labeling this "disgusting".

It's Alito's position from their point of view, and if this is the best the Dems can do it's pitiful, but far from a slime attack.

Not much to see here, gang, just the hive mind frothing at the mouth over the picayune.
