Tidbit for a Saturday afternoon

So what's taking them so long to rebuild the WTC?

Back in 1999, Larry Silverstein's real estate empire signed a 99 year lease with the city, and just to win the bid, spent about 500 million dollars. When the center was destroyed in 2001, Silverstein continued to send in the rent check, and has since paid ANOTHER 500 million for buildings that no longer exist.

But here's the catch; Silverstein wants to have a say in the rebuilding process, and remember, this is the guy who has forked over millions during the last 4 and a half years for absolutely nothing, but the current resident of Gracie Mansion, a billionaire in his own right, has decided to get out the ruler and play who has the biggest, so the WTC remains nothing but a testament to militant islam, and NOT the vibrant moneymaker it once was.

Siverstein owns the rights to the real estate, and also has the right to participate in ANY planning that would effect his investment, but it's politics as usual in the Apple, with Emporer Bloomberg refusing to even speak with him until he kowtows. Silverstein COULD take this to court, but has been an exemplary citizen in just wanting this horrid affair over with, and not contributing to anything that might cause a delay.

Sure, he's heavily invested and doesn't want litigation to tie up even more of his liquidity, but all Bloomberg has to do is follow the law and there'd be girders-a-plenty rising from the ashes.

Remember; Bloomberg is a Liberal masquerading as a middle of the road Republican, and in his heart he WANTED all of those crappy museums to commemorate America's foolishness in pissing off the Arabs, and has been in a sulk ever since the general public got wise to these atrocities.

He lost. Billionaires aren't accustomed to losing, so he vents his spleen on Silverstein just to soothe a fractured ego.
