Mayor: Sever Thumbs of Graffiti Artists

RENO, Nev. (AP) - "Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman has suggested that those who deface freeways with graffiti should have their thumbs cut off on television. Goodman, appearing Wednesday on the "Nevada Newsmakers" television show, said, "In the old days in France, they had beheading of people who..."

There's a bio of old Oscar on the official Las Vegas website, and here's some of what's in it:

"The 19th mayor of the city of Las Vegas, Oscar B. Goodman was re-elected for a second four-year term in April 2003. His trademark no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is style helped him capture 86 percent of the vote during his re-election efforts."

Seems that Oscar is something of a local character, and I'm sure his constiuents agreed with him regarding just punishment for grafitti vandals.
