Lost yet another lengthy post to Bloggers fuckclinations, and am mightily pissed. Doesn't do me any good to try saving it elsewhere on this pc as it hasn't the memory to multitask without rebooting the whole shebang, so I, and all of us really, keep plugging away with this piece of trash.

Buy a new motherboard and a couple of memory chips.

Not spending any more money on the older pc. Will delegate it for word processing and the like, along with the other 3 "relics" that don't keep up with the modern internet. The one I'm on now is bells and whistles galore but Lisa gloms it ever since we switched to high speed. I'll prolly just get another Pentium 4 with a gig or so of memory, but will never buy a Dell again.

I stick with HPs. I had a desktop HP Pavillion for 7 years before it died - about the average life-span of electronics. Last year I bought a Pavillion laptop and dropped it 3 feet from the truck and bust the all the trimming from one corner and then recently knocked it off the desk when the dogs barked and put another dent in it. Still works fine. Wide-screen, lots of bells and whistles. And you can use it outside in sunlight because of the new screen technology.

Good to know, and thanks, guys. I should get a new laptop as the old ThinkPad is getting slower and slower, so that's probably the way to go. The HP is dying, one I had hand made by some asian dude in a small shop in Australia still boots and does all I ask but can't keep up with modern graphics, another I haven't fired up in a while, and the one I'm using now, the Dell that works when it wishes. Glitchy from the get-go but when it feels like it it kicks ass.

I'll limp along sharing with Lisa until it becomes intolerable then shoot the works for the latest and greatest that will of course be absolete a week after I get it home, but I should remember this time to look for expandability, if that's the right word.
