Such A Shame...

...The times otherwise smart folks don the blinders when it comes to religion. I've been a fan of Anklebiting Pundits since back in the days they began as Crush Kerry, but if H-Bomb cannot understand the simple premise of what evolution is, and how evidence of it stares him in the face every moment of every day, then it's a shame and an embarassment to Conservatives everywhere. The same people who employ technology such as the inter-frickin-net will accept all that science has to offer as long as it doesn't interfere with the long-since-debunked Old Testament.

No, God did not stop the sun from revolving around the earth so that Joshua could have more daylight with which to defeat his enemies, because the sun does not revolve around the earth. Galileo at long last convinced the Roman Catholic Church that the Old Testament was so very wrong in it's depiction of the natural order of things, and scholars were forced to arrive at the conclusion that fallible men misinterpreted the word of God. Not that God himself was in error, mind you, just that oops, some poor human screwed the pooch.

Hundreds of years ago.

But that doesn't stop the guys and gals who'll eagerly wait in line for the next generation flu shot...necessary because the influenza viruses evolve...from wanting to party like it's 1499.

When it suits them, science is great. When it might get in the way of one of the contradictory statements written thousands of years ago by who knows who, then science sucks. I stopped reading Wizbang for similar reasons. I won't be preached to by those who create so-called political blogs just so they can sermonize to an audience tuning in for something else entirely. Bait and switch and a lot of that going around lately and not just by used car salesmen.

Anyway, H-Bomb is busily bashing modern science over at the Anklebiters, and enough is enough. The link to them will soon come down. It won't bother them in the slightest, but I can no longer recommend such blitherings to friends and family like you guys.

Reading Biblical passages and taking them literally is like reading Rock lyrics and taking them seriously.

In both cases I just sit back and enjoy the music.

Copy. The original Frankenstein is a wonderful piece of literature, amaaing on so very many levels. Taken in that context it is a marvel, but I don't check the closets every night to be sure there are no bolt-necks waiting to pounce.

Excellent rant. I just had an argument with my born again neighbors who believe that there are dinosaurs in Africa - anything to prop up their biblical literalism.

Sweet mother of pearl, hoss...

You mean to sit there and tell me there ain't no bronto's in Darkest Africa?

Been there and saw a glimpse of one myself. Big old thing, hidden from full sight well sure, but it was huge and all gray like and had feet as big around as mama's come-to-sunday-meeting dinner plates.
