Enough Sissifying...

S&W pre-Model 10. Manufactured in 1946.

Condition is like-new, and this, my friends, is one helluva rare find.

Not mine, dammitall. Last snubby I wanted to buy was sold for about $200 over it's worth, but the old Smiths are appreciating like nobody's business.

Either A Darwin-Award Candidate Or...

INDUSTRY, Calif. - A deputy was apparently accidentally shot to death while cleaning his gun at a Los Angeles County sheriff's facility, officials said Thursday. It was the department's third death in seven days.

A fellow deputy discovered the body of Deputy Paul Wilms, 38, after 5 a.m. Thursday in a sheriff's youth center across the street from the Industry station, said Deputy R.J. Suarez.Wilms had a gunshot wound to his upper torso, Suarez said."It appears he was cleaning his weapon," Capt. Ray Peavy said. "We believe this probably occurred last night. In the course of cleaning his weapon, a round was discharged. At this point, it appears to be an accidental shooting."

Uh huh. Can't begin to remember the number of times I've been cleaning a gun and it went off. Uh huh. One always points the gun at one's "upper torso" and squeezes the trigger during cleaning.

Uh huh.

What's Next?

...Castration because one might be overwhelmed by an inclination to commit rape? Cutting off the hand of someone who might be tempted to steal? You can easily see how I could go on and on with this, but I'll spare ya..

According to State Sen. John Whitmire (D-Houston), the new program to arrest intoxicated Texans in bars whether or not they show any inclination to drive (see Mar. 23) is justified because it nips in the bud potential future misconduct: "Even though a public drunk is not planning on driving, that could change in an instant," he said. "There is certainly potential danger." (Pete Slover, "Lawmakers to review bar busts", Dallas Morning News, Mar. 25). Glenn Reynolds reacts disrespectfully (Mar. 31).

National Review Online Takes On...

The abject stupidity of liberals as they try to circumnavigate the law for political gain...

"Nothing shall limit the constitutional power of the President to take such measures as he deems necessary to protect the Nation against actual or potential attack or other hostile acts of a foreign power, to obtain foreign intelligence information deemed essential to the security of the United States, or to protect national security information against foreign intelligence activities.

Nor shall anything … be deemed to limit the constitutional power of the President to take such measures as he deems necessary to protect the United States against the overthrow of the Government by force or other unlawful means, or against any other clear and present danger to the structure or existence of the Government."
____________________________
(The above) is from Section 2511(3) of Title 18, United States Code – a provision enacted in 1968 in conjunction with the first federal wiretapping law. Its purpose was to make plain what had been universally understood since constitutional governance began in 1789: it would be unconstitutional for Congress to enact a law that purported to seize control of, or reduce, the constitutional authority of the President to collect intelligence in order to protect the American people from hostile foreigners.

The Congress, with the complicity of President Jimmy Carter, blatantly violated its own statute when it enacted FISA in 1978 and undertook to seize what a decade before it said could not be seized.

So embarrassingly obvious was the transgression that Congress felt compelled to bleach it out by repealing Section 2511(3) and pretending the whole thing never happened. (Unlike the President, when Congress violates the law, it can make that law disappear.)

It was an imperious maneuver by the 1978 Congress, ignoring checks and balances and declaring that Congress, not the Constitution, was our ultimate ruler. It was downright oligarchical.

So should we censure Congress?

Maybe Sen. Feingold, staunch libertarian that he purports to be, should read the Federalist Papers. He might start with No. 72, in which Hamilton warned, for the sake of liberty, that Americans remain on guard against “[t]he propensity of the legislative department to intrude upon the rights, and to absorb the powers, of the other departments[.]”

Cue Twilight Zone Music...

Billionaire philanthropist Jimmy Walter and WTC survivor William Rodriguez this week embarked on a groundbreaking trip to Caracas Venezuela in which they met with with the President of the Assembly and will soon meet with Venezuelan President himself Hugo Chavez in anticipation of an official Venezuelan government investigation into 9/11.

Rodriguez was the last survivor pulled from the rubble of the north tower of the WTC, and was responsible for all stairwells within the tower. Rodriguez represented family members of 9/11 victims and testified to the 9/11 Commission that bombs were in the north tower but his statements were completely omitted from the official record.

Jimmy Walter has been at the forefront of a world tour to raise awareness about 9/11 and has still yet to receive any response to his million dollar challenge in which he offers a $1 million reward for proof that the trade towers' steel structure was broken apart without explosives.

Rodriguez and Walter offered their full support for Charlie Sheen's recent public stance on 9/11 and were heartened by his efforts. The potential of a government level inquiry endorsed by Hugo Chavez dovetails with Sheen's call for an independent investigation to be carried out by political foreign nationals.

Oh sweet lord a'mighty but these moonbats do bring a tear of laughter to my eye. And last I heard, Charlie Sheen was still trying to get all of the states in the Northwest to fund a "Let's-Find-The Sasquatch!" venture. Hell, if he and his Dad promised to go, I'd contribute just on the off chance a big hungry bear would eat both of these simple fucks.

The 911-was-a-government-plot asswipes just keep truckin.

Check this, as well as more than you probably ever wanted to know about idiots over at Anklebiting Pundits.

Little Ol Racist Cynthia Sorry She Slapped The Ociffer...

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-Ga.) blamed a police officer for a confrontation this week that ended with her slapping the officer.

"This whole incident was instigated by the inappropriate touching and stopping of me, a female, black congresswoman," McKinney said this evening at a news conference.
________________________________
Yep. She assaulted an officer of the law, there's a warrant out for her arrest, but as is the case with all influential minority members, she will receive no punishment for this felony.

Hell. The Mexicans can flaunt the law, so why not a black woman?

Thanks to Misha for the scoop.

Prayer Doesn't Help...

"The long-awaited study of intercessory prayer for coronary bypasspatients was released yesterday. A small increase in complications, attributed to "performance anxiety,"was found in a subset of patients who were told that strangers were praying for them. Otherwise, there was nothing.

Scientists are relieved of course; science is tough enough without having to worry that somebody on their knees in East Cupcake, Iowa can override natural law. The study of 1800 patients took almost ten years and cost $2.4M, mostly from the Templeton Foundation. Of course, there are calls for further study. Where do we start? What are the units of prayer? Do prayers of Pat Robertson than those of death-row inmates? What is the optimum posture of the supplicant? Where can we learn these things?

Once a week, Bob Park (www.bobpark.org) delves into stories of scientific interest, and while he's a moonbat extraordinaire, sometimes a spade is a spade.

One DOES have to feel sorry for modern science. Tell an ultra conservative that Intelligent Design is absolute bilgewater, OR, a liberal that there are DISTINCT and MEASUREABLE differences in the races of man, and watch the fur fly.

But no matter what they say in public, science likes dealing with Republicans over their Loon counterparts. Not ALL Republicans believe that unheard of words from an invisible man who lives in the clouds should be taken over common sense, but ALL Democrats believe that ALL of Homo Sapien Sapiens are born with the same cognitive resources. Otherwise, there'd be NO explaining Hillary Clinton or Chuckie Schumer.

First it was George Will...

...Then John Podhoretz surrenders to the invading hordes...

"The immigration issue has risen in importance not because of real-world conditions but because of a relentless campaign to place it at the center of the national consciousness - a campaign waged primarily by intellectuals (many of them, ironically, immigrants themselves). Their hostility to open immigration is rooted in many different arguments.

There's the cultural argument - the idea that immigrants from Mexico neither wish to be nor are compelled by policy or principle to seek to become fully American. There's the economic argument - the idea that certain American industries are addicted to overly cheap immigrant labor by hand when they would do better in the global marketplace to innovate and use machinery.

And there's the national-security argument - the idea that we need to restrict immigration to defend the country against an unconventional terrorist attack staged by individuals coming across the border illegally. And there are others as well.

All these arguments are sound, and they raise issues that must be addressed. What is distressing about them, however, is how weirdly defeatist they are. Immigration foes are convinced that the American national fabric is frayed, tattered and in danger of disintegration - that America cannot survive in its present form if current immigration trends continue.

They fear the kind of social disorder now on display in Europe, where disgruntled Muslim immigrants are increasingly testing the limits of democratic civil society.

That's not the America I see, or the America I live in. I see a vibrant, dynamic, extraordinarily strong and extraordinarily stable country that has dealt successfully with far more pressing domestic problems without losing a beat.

Brilliant men and women brought immigration to the forefront with the strength and passion of their ideas. But brilliant people can be very wrong sometimes."

Trying living in a border state, John, then get back to us about violent crime, and the erosion of the American identity.

Yes, we don't need migrant farm workers because we're being left behind by modern technology and it's time to begin the switch, so what then do we do with the millions of suddenly jobless illegals.

You going to police them and house them and feed them, John? Or will you wait for the problem to reach epic proportions and then say nothing can be done?

And stop the nonsense about crime being the lowest in 3 decades. REPORTED crime is down, but anyone buying into how safe we are is not living in the same galaxy.
Levee Repair Costs Triple

The Bush administration said yesterday that the cost of rebuilding New Orleans's levees to federal standards has nearly tripled to $10 billion and that there may not be enough money to fully protect the entire region.

Shocking, isn't it. Who'd a thunk. And that about settles it; take the cash and relocate the entire population once and for all. Instead of paying through the nose to live in such a desireable location...as long as it doesn't rain hard, of course...a great many New Orlinians are paid to live there and enough is enough. If your home is uninhabitable then uninhabit. Especially if it's on our dime.

Slumming With Shysters

Zone of blame.

"Two years ago a former mental patient slew New Jersey state trooper Scott Gonzalez, first ramming his cruiser head-on, then killing him with two shotgun blasts through the car's windshield.

So who's his widow suing? The killer's parents; the makers of her husband's police gun, because it briefly jammed after he'd fired seven shots from it; and the Ford Motor Co., because the deployment of its airbags on collision allegedly delayed his exit from the car."

Holding The Beaners At Bay...

So let's see now...

There's the Kennedy-McCain concept of SURRENDER AT ALL COSTS...

And...

A Realistic Goal

This strategy of attrition is not a pipe dream, or the idle imaginings of a policy wonk. The central insight is that there is already significant churn in the illegal population, which can be used to speed the decline in overall numbers.

According to a 2003 report from the Immigration and Naturalization Service,1 thousands of people are subtracted from the illegal population each year. From 1995 to 1999, an average of 165,000 a year went back home on their own after residing here for at least a year; the same number got some kind of legal status, about 50,000 were deported, and 25,000 died, for a total of more than 400,000 people each year subtracted from the resident illegal population. The problem is that the average annual inflow of new illegal aliens over that same period was nearly 800,000, swamping the outflow and creating an average annual increase of close to 400,000.

A strategy of attrition would seek to reverse this relationship, so that the outflow from the illegal population is much larger than the number of new illegal settlers from abroad. This would be a measured approach to the problem, one that doesn't aspire to an immediate, magical solution to a long-brewing crisis, but also does not simply declare surrender, as the Bush and McCain/Kennedy amnesty proposals do.

Driving A 40' Bus...

OR...

Shit, this thing doesn't turn for squat.

Took out a bus today in practice for my CDL test. The instructor is a good guy but, well, pretty much says, "Okay, now drive the bus."

That's cool. Did some loop-dee-loops at this driving-range the size of two football fields, and instead of him taking over and driving us back to the garage, he asks me to.

That's cool. Did some highway and back road, and even Mall driving and didn't hit anything. K-turns are a little tricky, and I've got to work on my parallel parking a bit. The bus had to be as old as me, the transmission slipped, the engine labored, and the brakes spat and sputtered but beggars can't be choosers. The guy says a few more days practicing and we'll head down to where they do the road testing.

It wasn't as bad as I expected but time will tell. Tomorrow I'm going to spend some time skidding in and out of cones to see if I can learn to make that baby really drive. Funny part about busses, is that if you open the doors before coming to a complete stop the emergency brakes kick in, and the instructor dude tells me that experienced drivers sort of use that as a way to slow down between stops when they tire of standing on the brakes.

And I only asked myself "Why Am I Doing This?" maybe half a dozen times.

"*Bucciacia Piccolo Brutto..."

Mullisimos Whine As Italy Prepares to Save Abdur Rahman...

Every day I tried to read both the Sidney Morning Herald, as well as The Australian. I've an affection for Australia that goes way back, and here's up to the minute (meaning it's merely several hours old) news on the Afghan imprisoned because he converted to Christianity:

"Members of the Afghan parliament condemned the release of a man who denied Islam, insisting on Wednesday he should not be allowed to leave the country, as Italy appeared ready to offer him asylum."

It was a given that WE couldn't offer him asylum, but would be working feverishly to assure that such was forthcoming. That's sort of how the real world works, and quite the concept.

George Will On What To Do With The Beaners

"AMERICA, the only developed nation that shares a long - 2,000-mile - border with a Third World nation, could seal that border. East Germany showed how: walls, barbed wire, machine gun-toting border guards in towers, mine fields, large irritable dogs. And we have modern technologies that East Germany never had, sophisticated sensors, unmanned surveillance drones, etc.

But control belongs at the top of the agenda, for four reasons. First, control of borders is an essential attribute of sovereignty. Second, current conditions along the border mock the rule of law. Third, large rallies by immigrants, many of them here illegally, protesting more stringent control of immigration reveal that many immigrants have, alas, assimilated: They have acquired the entitlement mentality spawned by America's welfare state, asserting an entitlement to exemption from the laws of the society they invited themselves into. Fourth, giving Americans a sense that borders are controlled is a prerequisite for calm consideration of what policy that control should serve

...Of the estimated at least 11 million illegal immigrants - a cohort larger than the combined populations of 12 states - 60 percent have been here at least five years. Most have roots in their communities. Their children born here are U.S. citizens. We are not going to take the draconian police measures necessary to deport 11 million people. They would fill 200,000 buses in a caravan stretching bumper-to-bumper from San Diego to Alaska (where, by the way, 26,000 Latinos live). And there are no plausible incentives to get the 11 million to board the buses.

And conservatives should favor reducing illegality by putting illegal immigrants on a path out of society's crevices and into citizenship by paying fines and back taxes and learning English. Faux conservatives absurdly call this price tag on legal status "amnesty." Actually, it would prevent the emergence of a sullen, simmering subculture of the permanently marginalized, akin to the Arab ghettos in France. The House-passed bill, making it a felony to be in the country illegally, would make 11 million people permanently ineligible for legal status. To what end?"

I included far more of what George had to say just so it wouldn't seem that he had gone totally soft on the criminals within our country. He makes a vald point concerning the difficulty of rounding up and exiling millions of people, and I'll add to that the fact that our law enforcement system is undermanned, poorly staffed, and becoming more and more of a catch-the-law-abiding-citizen-and-let-the-criminals-go-free service that would be hard pressed to do much more than ticket these offenders. "Diversity" has diluted enough of our police forces as to assure we'd have more than enough meter-maids, but far fewer real cops than necessary to catch illegals then toss them back across the border.

But sorry, George, it IS an amnesty when you erase criminal activities from a persons record. I'll agree that it would be next to impossible to catch all of them all of the time, and that a one-shot, open-arms approach to the most desireable ones would be the better way to go, but a blanket, get out of jail free card, is absurd.

Sure it's going to be hard. That's what turns the liberals to mush. They don't do hard.

But there are enough people left who do, and while these people exist...time's a'wastin'.

More as I find the time. This is stimulating, and fun.

More Box O' Truth

Those wacky Box O' Truth guys are at it again, this time pitting antiquated cartridges against modern body armor. Well, the rifle rounds weren't bad, but anyone STILL using Hydra-Shok ammunition is stuck in a time warp with no hope of escape. No one in their right mind would expect a hollowpoint to do anything but flatten against armor, and that's why full metal jackets still have a place in the old toolbox. The .40 caliber is so varied that one could choose from a plethora of different munitions such as fast and light, or slow and heavy depending upon what job needed to be done, but that remains a total mystery to these chaps.

The concept of the Box continues to be interesting, but far beyond the limited knowledge and imaginations of it's creators with regards to generating meaningful results.

And I've long since stopped offering them modern ammunition, free of charge. Some folks like yesterday far too much to turn the calendar.

Getting the jump on Stop-The-ACLU's Blogburst Thursday

Will be a busy day for me tomorrow. Couple that with the vagaries of Bloggers propensity to glitch when it should glotch....so....take it away STOP...

A History Lesson On The ACLU
I researched the Congressional Record dated Wednesday, September 20, 1961. Very important information relating to the ACLU and it's Communist/Socialist ambitions.Dr. Fredrick Schwartz, executive director of the International Christian Anticommunism Crusade, "Communist Legal Subversion," page 75, House Committee on Un-American Activities: "Any attempt to judge the influence of Communists by their numbers is like trying to determine the validity of the hull of a boat by relating the area of the holes to the area which is sound. One hole can sink a ship. Communism is the theory of the disciplined of few controlling and directing the rest.

One person in a sensitive position can control and manipulate thousands of others."FBI Director, J. Edger Hoover called Communists, "Masters of Deceit". He continues, "Fronts probably represent the party's (communist) most successful tactic in capturing non-Communist support. Like mass agitation and infiltration, fronts espouse the deceptive party line (hence the word "front"), while actually advancing the real party line.

In this way the party is able to influence thousands of non-Communists, collecting large sums of money, and reach the minds, pens, and tongues of many high-ranking and distinguished individuals. Moreover, fronts are excellent fields for party recruitment." The FBI director, people! And how does this tie into the ACLU? I'm getting to that. The two co-founders of the American Civil Liberties Union are Roger Baldwin and Crystal Eastwood, both confessed socialists. Roger Baldwin was on the record of over 100 Communist front affiliations. In an article that he wrote for "Soviet Russia Today"(September 1934), "When the power of the working class is once achieved, as it has been only in the Soviet Union, I am for maintaining it by any means whatsoever." He goes on to say, "The class struggle is the central conflict of the world, all others are coincidental." He also wrote in a book commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Harvard graduating class of 1905 (in 1935), "I seek social ownership of property, the abolition of the propertied class, and sole control of those who produce wealth: Communism is the goal."Dr. Harry Ward, the first chairman of the ACLU, was linked to over 200 front affiliations of the Communist Party. And was the chairman of one of the largest front organizations in this country, "The American League for Peace and Democracy." Which was placed on a list of subversive organizations by the Attorney General of The United States on June 1, 1948. Dr. Ward authored two pro-Soviet books, "Soviet Democracy" and "Soviet Spirit", which garnered him an investigation by the California State Senate Fact Finding Committee on Un-American Activities. The Committee stated on page 246 of their report, "The Communist affiliation of Dr. Harry F. Ward is indicative of the Communist sympathies of the members and sponsors of the 'Friends of the Soviet Union.'"

Since this history is far reaching, I will continue this subject in tomorrow's main posting. I don't wish to overwhelm my readers with too much information. But should you wish to read up on this subject further, you can read the entire Congressional Record for September 20, 1961, by clicking on the title of this post. It is rather eye opening.

Death By Crane

I belong to no one group. Or no two group. I long ago turned down feelers to become associated with military blogs, because that would pigeonhole me. There are folks who are tenuously and at times strongly linked to one internet clique or another, and all of that interneterbreeding gets the word out and returns with some awesome stuff.

Born Again Redneck does a good job, I got the following link there.

Chas' Compilation: Hanging in Iran

And as one of the posters opined, as long as they are hanging Iranian men, I'll chip in for a crane or two myself.
So I spent the entire morning in a class about sexual harassment and "DIVERSITY".

This is mandatory if I am going to drive cripple folk, and hell, ANY folk nowadays. I might decide to take advantage of a legless woman, or not understand that DIVERSITY really means QUOTA.

It was horrible. And it took a concentrated effort not to arise from my chair and strangle the little fruitcup giving the class. "Isn't it soooooo sad that the NATIVE AMERICANS are the only people who must PROVE their bloodline??????"

No. It's not. It was THEIR idea to begin with so STFU and by the way, creampie, I'm a fucking NATIVE AMERICAN, too. So what that their ancestors beat mine here? Mine came from Europe, theirs from Asia, and just like their NATIVE ASIANS, they didn't have jack shit for technology and had to bend over to the West until they borrowed enough to stand half a chance to survive.

Doesn't anyone else find it strange that Asia has not contributed ANYTHING to civilization? Acupuncture? Don't make me laugh. Dolphin soup? Well, it's tasty as hell, so maybe I'll grant you that. Powdered rhinocerous horn? Please. Chinese Take-Out was invented in NYC and bears little or no resemblance to the swill they eat in cat-pie land, and NO they did NOT have gunpowder. They had useless firecracker powder and never thought to work it into a weapon because when push comes to shove asians love sharp edges.

Where was I...

Oh yeah. Class. Or the lack thereof. I suffered through it because the ends justify the means, but it was painful listening to that fragile little flower drone on and on about what we OWE to minorities. And how I should address a black person by the title he or she so chooses, and not MY OWN. Nigger is of course just stupid, Colored is what the older folks still refer to themselves as , but to me it sounds dumb, Afro-American is verbotten, African-American is so-so, and Black should work but be on the lookout for a frowny face then beg forgiveness and try again if you muck it up.

No good deed goes unpunished.
Welcome to the WALOCAUST...Coming soon to your occupation WALOCAUST

Okay, so the above is a funny ass site and I've been working feverishly to post some pics, but AOL is informing me that Blogger doesn't really exist, and of course I knew that, but it's no way to run a web log.

Yeah, they're probably liberal loons...what's wrong with Firearms, Alcohol, & Tobacco being 20% off...but even loons can do something right now and then.

As a loyal despiser of everything Wal-Mart, I like it.

"Attorney John Claassen, formerly of Skadden Arps, is suing online matchmaker eHarmony.com, which declined to list him because he is not yet divorced and it has a rule against listing profiles of persons who admit to being married.

Ann Coulter takes the NY Times to task.

Just like shootin' fish in a barrel, isn't it, Ann?

Anti-Beaners?

Let me preface the following by saying I haven't a frickin clue as to what this group stands for, but I think, think mind you, that they're on the side of Truth, Justice, and The American Way.

The invading hordes of illegal hispanics have taken to calling themselves "indigenous peoples", forgetting perhaps, or maybe never having heard of the European nation known as SPAIN.

But that's cool, because this is what we're here for, so listen up, beangang.

NONE of the people of the America's sprang out of the fucking earth, okay? They came from Asia, or Europe. Your group came from Spain, and you can even go look it up. As transplanted Spaniards, you built ramshackle countries that soon fell to shit, and it's not as if SOUTH AMERICA will take you in, so you headed North.

But WE live here. We are Americans. You cannot sashay into town and ask directions to the Welfare Office. You must first learn our LANGUAGE, then apply for CITIZENSHIP. If you have the capacity to learn such things, then all is well and as long as you're not the sort to kill and rape and steal, like a lot of you who've smuggled yourselves into our country, then WELCOME ABOARD.

Okay then. This blog has a horrid name, and they're posting so incoherently it's difficult to see whose side they're on. I got the link from Misha's blog, but a place calling itself WeHateGringos sort of rubs me the wrong way. It SEEMS that they are posting hate mail from beaner groups, and I hope this is the case and it's not just another Screw-You-We-Deserve-EVERYFUCKINGTHING band of Mexicans looking to sneak past us.

I'm tired. The frickin site loads slower than all hell. But give it a try and see for yourself.

More Beaner Counting

THE hundreds of thousands of protesters who took to the streets in favor illegal immigration seem to "know" America better than most Americans. Here's some of what they know:

* The rule of law is irrelevant whenever enforcement becomes impractical, burdensome or politically inconvenient. The thousands of marchers, many illegals, had no fear whatsoever of being arrested or detained.

* The English language is "flexible." Thus "illegal alien" becomes "undocumented worker" - as if the two were actually interchangeable.

* We're the world's leading practitioner of moral relativism - free to say that anyone who opposes massive law-breaking or defends the integrity of American culture is "racist" or "xenophobic."

Fomenting Frogs

"...Aging populations suffering from depression-level unemployment rates can't survive if those with jobs demand 35-hour work-weeks, a couple of months' vacation and lavish benefits upon an early retirement. Oh, and 100 percent job security."

The Fwench are in deep trouble. Again. They truly possess a wrecked economy, not the healthy one masquerading as ailing such as ours whenever investors aren't getting enough of a return on their portfolio, so it's time to blame the workers because they receive health care benefits.

Yeah, I'm agitated from seeing too many crippled servicemen getting terrible treatment while politicians shrug and say it's the Dr's fault for making so much money. But back to the French:

Hahahahahahahahaha.

You can't make this stuff up, Part II...

"By a 4-3 vote, New York's highest court, the Court of Appeals, has voted to uphold a $1.4 million jury award against the New York City Transit Authority on behalf of Juan Soto, who after a night of drinking with friends decided to trespass on the elevated subway roadbed at Queensboro Plaza and then failed to outrun a #7 train that came up behind. (Pete Donohue, "Loses to train & wins big", New York Daily News, Mar. 25).

Per a New York Daily News editorial, "To justify paying him, the court credited Soto's testimony that he could tell how fast he was running because he often ran on a treadmill, and based on that speed some hired expert said the motorman should have been able to stop before hitting him." ("A court runs off the rails", Mar. 25)(Soto v. New York City Transit Authority, PDF).

"Canadian photographer Gregory Colbert is starting an outfit he calls the Animal Copyright Foundation whose intent is to collect royalty payments on behalf of animal species as compensation for the use in advertising of, for instance, the Budweiser Clydesdales, Target's spotted dog, the Hartford's stag, and other furred, finned or feathered creatures, the proceeds to be distributed to conservation causes that benefit animals."

The Battle Of Salar Ban, Afghanistan

During our search of a home in Salar Ban, we discovered roughly one-thousand pounds of explosives with an additional one-thousand pounds of time fuses and other accessories used to detonate explosives," said Spurlock.

During the search, the explosives were discovered by two combat engineers attached to Charlie Company - Lance Cpl. Jordan Mills, from Louisville, Ky., and Lance Cpl. Daniel Johnson, from Salt Lake City.
"Almost as soon as we got the word that the explosives were found, I saw a back-blast from an RPG (rocket propelled grenade) and saw the RPG headed straight for us," said Lance Cpl. Brandon Benz-Marrs, assaultman, 3rd Platoon, Charlie Company, 1/3. "I dived down and thought, 'This is it. We're dead.' Then, somehow, it ended up landing about 15 meters from us. None of us were hit. We didn't have time to count our luck. We immediately started sending rounds down range," recalled the Wailuku, Maui native.

What ensued over the next 30 minutes was a ferocious firefight between Marines from Charlie Company and the ACM, the likes of which Charlie Company Marines hadn't seen since the battle of Fallujah in Iraq in November of 2004, noted Sgt. Michael Chambers, platoon sergeant, 3rd Platoon, Charlie Company, 1/3.

"The Marines who hadn't seen combat before got their wish today," said Chambers, a Purple Heart and Bronze Star with combat distinguishing device medal recipient from Lexington, S.C. "The enemy had the terrain advantage. The potential was there for them to put a hurting on us, but the Marines did what they were trained to do and in the end, we crushed them."

Indeed, according to Spurlock, later reports estimated that upwards of 20 insurgents were killed in the firefight and in the artillery bombardment and air support that followed.

"All told, including the initial firefight, the battle lasted over an hour, but once the big guns and air support came in there was nothing the enemy could do," said Chambers. "I heard we killed 20 of them. I wish it was 21. There is always room for one more dead Taliban who is trying to kill Marines, our ANA brothers and innocent Afghans."

Many Lava Dogs from Charlie Company called it a miracle that there were no Marine casualties during the exchange. "I think it was a combination of a miracle by God and Marine Corps training that none of us were killed or wounded at Salar Ban," said Lance Cpl. Jose Romero, 1st Fire Team Leader, 3rd Squad, 3rd Platoon, Charlie Company, 1/3. "For a minute there I thought I was going to die, but I never felt fear. All I felt was the Marine Corps training kicking in. It seemed like we were in one firefight or another every day on this operation, but Salar Ban was definitely the worst, or, if you think about it, the best."

Others were a little less spiritual in their outlook on the battle at Salar Ban.

"Yeah, I'm surprised none of us died at Salar Ban," said Cpl. David Gordon, 3rd Squad Leader, 3rd Platoon, Charlie Company, 1/3. "There were a lot of close calls," continued the Bowling Springs, S.C., native. "It just came down to they missed and we didn't."
"It was luck no Marines got killed," said Mills. "Pure and simple good old-fashioned luck. The Marines are good. But I'd rather be lucky than good any day."

"They shot crooked and we shot straight," added Frost in his summation of the firefight.

Others chalked up the decisive Marine Corps victory at Salar Ban to neither divine intervention nor luck, but rather to the superiority of Marine Corps training and the fighting spirit of the individual Marines.

"To have RPG's and AK-47's shot at you, you would think that the reasonable man theory would kick in and you'd start spazzing the heck out and dive in a ditch or something," said Davis. "These guys didn't do that at all. They held their positions and immediately put lead back toward the enemy. The Marines did good. No, they did better than good. They were awesome."

Some would say none more so than Davis himself.

"Years from now probably most of the Marines who were at Salar Ban won't remember how Gunny Davis steadfastly checked on the safety of his Marines or that he advanced on the enemy, but rather that it was he who first broke the tension of combat by cracking open an MRE (meal ready to eat) immediately after the initial firing stopped and said to a group of Marines in his nonchalant way, 'Combat makes me hungry,'"

I know damn well he didn't say "Combat makes me hungry."

"Killin' (insert the derogatory name for an enemy here)...makes me hungry," is more like it.

Harvard to Remove Its Logo and Distance Itself From Pro-Israel Lobby...Barbara Ferguson, Arab News

WASHINGTON, 29 March 2006 — Following the fury detonated by two eminent professors who challenged the value of the pro-Israel lobby’s impact on American foreign policy, Harvard University said it will remove its logo from the study in order to distance itself from the paper’s conclusions.

Professor Stephen Walt, the academic dean of Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, and Professor John Mearsheimer, a top international relations theorist at the University of Chicago, the authors of the controversial study, kicked up a storm in academic and political circles with their 83-page paper, called “The Israel Lobby and US Foreign Policy,” published last week.

We Get Letters

I receive a fair amount of email from American's overseas. Some of them tell me that it's perfectly fine if I pass along the stories they have to tell, and I respond to all of them the same way.

Thanks. I'm sure that most of the folks who stop by here would be interested in hearing about the going's on in Iraq and Afghanistan, and I ask but two things. Never censor yourself, or worry about salty language is the first, and LEARN HOW TO SPELL is the second.

Now, I'm not the greatest speller on God's green earth but I know the relatively simple words, and typos are typos so that's that. What I WON'T do is spend hours a day editing letters because I'm ashamed to say that so and so from such and such is in the service, has at least a High School diploma, and doesn't know that "Yes, Maim," looks too stupid for words to describe.

Attention to detail. The entire civilized world believes Americans to be redneck cowboys without a semblance of class or sophistication, and firearm aficianado's...military, law enforcement, or private citizens...are the dumbest of the dumb. I won't perpetuate a stereotype, and won't spend my time copying, pasting, then running spellcheck because someone else was too lazy to do so.

Tried it lots and will not do it again. Today I worked on several interesting mails from hot zones, then stopped and deleted the whole shebang. It's bad enough I wince through gun-boards where 99% of the postings are from men who write on the level of slow 3rd graders, and I will not pass along gibberish for the sake of seeming to be an insider.

I like to share, but enough is enough. This isn't meant as an insult to anyone, but everyone knows that I detest sloppiness and if taking the time to at least get the easy words correct is too much of a hassle, then so be it. I'll continue to read everything, but am done with trying to make something unintelligible seem at least halfass readable.

Rant over.

Loons in a nutshell...

No, it's not a misprint. A NY politician actually tried to pass a law that gave suspects the right to fight back if arrested. We're not talking about an unlawful search and/or seizure here. We're talking about a cop making a perfectly legal arrest and allowing the typical street scumdog to use whatever force he deems necessary to persuade him otherwise.

And that's all you really need to know about liberals.

And Now A Word From A Modern RHINO...

"Because of canny political planning, Democrats may be able to turn out Hispanics for the November elections. And if they keep up the drumbeat, they may be able to stall out and reverse the progress made by George W. Bush in winning this classically Democratic constituency over to the GOP.

And that's where the long-range planning comes in. If Hispanics become convinced that Republicans are hostile to them, they may become as reliable a Democratic core group as African-Americans now are. And given the growth in the number of Hispanic voters over the coming two decades, that scenario could spell doom for the Republican Party in the first half of the 21st century."

That went off without a hitch and tomorrow I might start some behind the wheel stuff, if the guy teaching me has the time. Real nice guy so I don't push things. Normally, such instruction can run you 3 grand in some fancy schmancy driving school, and I'm getting it gratis.

Subject: Russert to Speak at VVMF In Memory Day

Greetings! The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund is excited to have nationally known journalist Tim Russert as the guest speaker for our annual In Memory Day Ceremony, which will be held this year on April 17.

Russert is the moderator of "Meet the Press."In Memory Day is one of the most poignant ceremonies we hold at TheWall. It is where we honor those who died prematurely from noncombat injuries and emotional suffering caused directly by the Vietnam War, but who do not meet Department of Defense guidelines to have their names included on The Wall.

This year, 86 new inductees will be added to the In Memory Honor Roll. And the names of all 1,515 past honorees will be read.Sharing the stage with Russert will be members from the Geary family.

Paul Geary was a childhood friend of Russert's who died in 1999 as a result of his service in Vietnam. He was inducted into the In MemoryHonor Roll in 2002.To read the full press release, click on this link:http://www.vvmf.org/index.cfm?SectionID=464.

FEC Won't Regulate Most Activity On Web Under Campaign Law

Associated Press

"Regulators brought Internet political advertising under the nation's campaign finance law Monday but declared that all other political activity on the Internet would be untethered by federal rules. The three Republicans and three Democrats on the Federal Election Commission unanimously adopted a rule requiring anyone placing a paid political ad on a Web site to abide by federal campaign spending and contribution limits. But the rule also updates existing FEC regulations to make it clear that all other Internet political activity, such as blogging, email communications and online publications, isn't covered by the campaign law.

"Individual online political activity will be protected from FEC restriction regardless of whether the individual acts alone or as part of a group, and regardless of whether the individual acts in coordination with a candidate or acts independently," said Commission Chairman Michael E. Toner.

The 2002 campaign finance law requires that ads for or against federal candidates be paid for with money regulated by the law, which limits contributions by individuals to $2,000 and bans union and corporation donations. In its initial interpretation of the law in 2002, the FEC said no political activity on the Internet was covered. But a federal court judge ruled in 2004 that the commission had to craft a new rule that at the very least covered paid political advertising on the Internet. The ruling, and the commission's decision not to appeal it, sparked fears among some Internet users that the panel might adopt broader restrictions. But Toner said the new rule gives a "categorical and unqualified" exemption to all individual and group political activity on the Internet, except for paid advertising.Commissioner Ellen L. Weintraub described the new rule as "a win, win, win" for all groups anxious about how the commission would respond to the court order.Hans A. von Spakovsky, appointed to the commission by President Bush in January, said the rule wouldn't have been necessary had the commission appealed the court ruling. He urged Congress to pass legislation exempting all types of political activity over the Internet from regulation.

Under the new rule, bloggers on the Internet would be entitled to the same exemption from the campaign finance law that newspapers and other traditional forms of media have long received. "There will be no second class citizens among members of the media," Mr. Toner said.

The rule also allows union members and corporate employees to use their work computers and other electronic devices for political activity without running afoul of campaign law restrictions, as long they do it on their own time and aren't coerced to engage in such activity by the union or corporation."

An Afghan man who faced the death penalty for converting from Islam to Christianity has appealed for asylum in another country, the United Nations said Monday. U.N. spokesman Adrian Edwards said the world body was working with the Afghan government to meet the request by Abdul Rahman, 41. "Mr. Rahman has asked for asylum outside Afghanistan," Edwards said. "We expect this will be provided by one of the countries interested in a peaceful solution to this case."

CHINA+RUSSIA = TROUBLE

"Sino-Russian romance is undercutting U.S. global interests on an unprecedented scale. Indeed, Russia and China seem to have their eyes on restraining European and Japanese power, too.

Start with the United Nations, where Russia and China are hampering U.S.- and European Union-led efforts to address Iran's nuclear program. It's been weeks since the Security Council got official notice that Iran had violated its nonproliferation promises - yet the U.N. body has yet to manage to even condemn Tehran's actions, much less impose economic sanctions.

No surprise: Both Moscow and Beijing have way too much at stake to bully their buddy, Tehran. China has billions invested in Iran's oil/gas fields; Russia hopes to make its own billions by reprocessing Iranian reactor fuel. And both sell millions in advanced weapons to Iran.
Russian and Chinese unwillingness has also stalled the world's drive to contain and roll back North Korea's nuclear-weapons program. While Pyongyang may be an annoying, needy country cousin for Moscow and Beijing, neither minds that the issue causes nuclear-strength heartburn for Washington, exacerbating festering U.S.-South Korean alliance problems.

China certainly doesn't lose sleep over North Korean missiles bore-sighted on Japan, either.
_______________________
Wow, China and Russia acting together to thwart the rest of humanity. Yawn. They've got "The Bomb" so must be taken seriously, but neither has a real economy that could survive removing the crutches the West props them up with.

The problem is, and always has been, a wishy-washy Europe. And take this to the bank to use as fodder to argue with tree-huggers...if there WERE alternative energy resources then Japan would be employing them even as we speak. Russia has fossil fuel supplies and isn't afraid to exploit them, while we weep over the plight of the reindeer.

It's all about energy and will BE all about energy.

The mindset of the liberal politician

March 27, 2006 -- Mayor Bloomberg wants to adapt the NYPD's successful computer-based anti-crime program so as to protect kids from killer parents. But history suggests that what's really in the works is half the program - which won't work.
"ChildStat," a database system to be used by the city's Administration for Children's Services, will be modeled on the police department's widely praised CompStat program, which tracks crime trends on a precinct-by-precinct basis.
But Mayor Mike is violently allergic to the one element that made CompStat the stunning success that it remains today: personal accountability.
Hizzoner may deny this; he and his aides may claim that new measures at ACS elevate the importance of holding folks responsible. But the record speaks for itself.

Look at ACS itself, where Commissioner John Mattingly was given a pass - despite a rash of deaths last fall and winter among children the agency should have been monitoring closely.
Children like 7-year-old Nixzmary Brown and 4-year-old Quachaun Browne.
Or look beyond that - to, say, Iris Weinshall, Mike's transportation commissioner. On her watch, 11 people died in an utterly avoidable crash of the Staten Island Ferry. But she kept her job.
Look at Imam Umar Abdul-Jalil, the Rikers Island chaplain who maliciously preaches lies about Muslims being tortured in prison by the U.S. government - falsehoods that speak directly to his fitness to work in the jails.
But Mike insists it's no reason to relieve the imam from his job running clerical programs in city jails, where Muslim inmates may be enflamed by such falsehoods. Even as America fights a war against deceitful terrorists hungry for new recruits.
As former city Parks Commissioner Henry Stern wrote: "No commissioner has been publicly fired in the last four years, no matter how many innocent people are killed as a result of employee failures on his or her watch."
More: Last week, Bloomberg's education department said it was forgiving some 130 employees who live outside the city and admit to having sent their kids to city schools without paying tuition.
Most of them will get away without paying a penny back.
Accountability?
Mike never heard of it.
Oh, except when it comes to some poor shlub who's caught with a game of solitaire on his computer screen: He's out in a flash. (And with much p.r. fanfare.)
Now compare that sorry record with how CompStat works.
The NYPD program is not just about monitoring crime levels. It's about holding cops - and brass - responsible when it spikes.
At regular meetings, precinct commanders feel huge pressure if their numbers don't measure up.
They can - and have - lost their jobs.

So they, in turn, pressure supervisors and sergeants. Ultimately, street cops feel the heat - and crack down on the squeegee men, bums and fare beaters, rather than risk the wrath of their bosses.

But at ACS, staffers see Mattingly defended, even applauded, by the mayor - despite one dead child after another.
Looks like the only computer program ACS workers need fear is . . . solitaire."

Liberal politicos detest the police with a purple passion, so of course they come down hard on them. Cops are viewed as a necessary evil, blue collar workers in need of constant survellance, while teachers and welfare workers are golden idols that get one free pass after another. The single reason crime in NYC remains at it's lowest point in decades is because of the lasting effect of Rudy, but not even he could take on the weepy-worker's unions although he DID try. Bloomberg is nothing more than a rich loon who caters to everything base and evil, and there's plenty of that to go around the the Apple.

Justice Scalia On Gitmo...

You can click into MSNBC's article about Justice Scalia, but here is the essence of what you need to know:

"The Supreme Court this week will hear arguments in a big case: whether to allow the Bush administration to try Guantánamo detainees in special military tribunals with limited rights for the accused. But Justice Antonin Scalia has already spoken his mind about some of the issues in the matter. During an unpublicized March 8 talk at the University of Freiburg in Switzerland, Scalia dismissed the idea that the detainees have rights under the U.S. Constitution or international conventions, adding he was "astounded" at the "hypocritical" reaction in Europe to Gitmo.

"War is war, and it has never been the case that when you captured a combatant you have to give them a jury trial in your civil courts," he says on a tape of the talk reviewed by NEWSWEEK. "Give me a break."

Challenged by one audience member about whether the Gitmo detainees don't have protections under the Geneva or human-rights conventions, Scalia shot back: "If he was captured by my army on a battlefield, that is where he belongs. I had a son on that battlefield and they were shooting at my son and I'm not about to give this man who was captured in a war a full jury trial. I mean it's crazy."

Scalia was apparently referring to his son Matthew, who served with the U.S. Army in Iraq. Scalia did say, though, that he was concerned "there may be no end to this war."
__________________________________
Duh, yeah, betcha it WAS his son, Matthew that he was referring to. The loons are screaming that he should recuse himself, but that's nothing short of full frontal balderdash. The man is allowed an opinion, and if you compare what he's said to what Joannie Ginsburg has spouted, there isn't any contest. Moonbats are praying...yes, they DO pray...that Scalia backs away from this contest and lets the lefty Justices to take this one on, bit Antonin doesn't back away from anything.

Thanks to Stop The ACLU for sending along the MSNBC story. For me, MSNBC loads so slowly it's barely worth the wait, but if you've a speedier connection then by all means.

Iran to Go Nuclear This Year, Ahmadinejad Says...

...Subtitled...More Bullshit From Arabia

TEHRAN, 26 March 2006 — Iran would fully go nuclear with the current Persian year which started simultaneously with spring on March 20, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said yesterday. “Our enemies try to prevent our scientific progress through widespread propaganda but inshaAllah (God willing) this (new) year will be the year when the Islamic Republic of Iran will fully avail itself of peaceful nuclear technology,” Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying by the news agency ISNA.

In a meeting with visiting Syrian Vice President Farouk Al-Shara, Ahmadinejad said Iran’s use of peaceful nuclear energy will be to the benefit of the Islamic world and the “friends of Iran.”

Earlier yesterday, Iran thanked Russia and China for their stance in the ongoing dispute over Iran’s controversial nuclear program, state news agency IRNA reported. Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki thanked his Russian and Chinese counterparts by telephone for their “logical stance” and persistence to evaluate the issue within the International Atomic Energy Agency. Russia and China have so far refused plans for ultimatums or deadlines put by the United Nations Security Council on Iran for suspending all its uranium enrichment programs."

And it'll work. With them. The smart money says to buy white linen made in France. Just imagine the amount of white flags they'll need.

Packing in the Big Apple

New York Post Online Edition: news

March 26, 2006 -- "Billionaires are going ballistic.
Ronald Lauder has joined trigger-happy tycoons Donald Trump and Seagrams scion Edgar Bronfman Sr. as the richest men in the city packing heat, according to the NYPD's gun-permit list."
___________________________
And The Post is a Conservative newspaper. This is what NYC does to you. If you carry a gun you are trigger-happy, and newsworthy. But this is a web log and not some lame ass newspaper, so here's the real scoop on guns in The City:

So you want to conceal carry?

Bottom line time: Retain the services of an attorney specializing in carry permits. The phonebook will have a special section devoted to them under both Lawyers and Attorney's At Law. The classifieds will often feature ads from the more successful ones.

It'll cost you $3000 to start, a good one will secure the permit for you in a couple of months, and by then the bill will be somewhere along the lines of $8-$10 grand.

The background check includes parking tickets, and don't even think of applying unless you've a clean driving record as well. Nor even the most minor of felony's to your record. Spit on the sidewalk lately and receive a scofflaw summons? Too bad. No gun for you.

If you do happen to be so squeaky clean, the lawyer will coach you, dress you, and parade you around to the various licence venues. He'll be sure to have lunch with one of the clerks of an issuing judge and casually comment upon how costly re-election campaigns can be. He knows the ropes and as long as you hold up your end of the bargain it's a done deal. Then you must KEEP your record spotless, or the permit will be revoked or they will refuse to re-issue.

If you can afford it, it can be done, but no, if you've no connections and hire a lameass attorney (there's another kind?), and are young and/or show-up looking like DeNero in Taxi Driver, forget it.

Many, if not MOST of the well-known anti-gun celebrities and activists have such permits, and it's far easier for them because the liberal courts and police just know that they really hate the evil things, but DO have to protect themselves from the 30% of the population who identify themselves as registered Republicans.

Y'all Go Back Now

Mr. Calhoon is giving good full frontal rant and a visit might be just the ticket.

Hand Salute

There's a tempest in a teapot a'stirring, so of course I'll pass it along.

Army Veterans want to change the manner by which Veterans show respect. Traditionally, Vets will place a hand over the heart when pledging allegance or during the National Anthem, etc, but a movement is growing to change that to a full salute.

Marines do NOT salute ANYTHING unless they are under cover...wearing a hat...so the Marines are aghast at this. The Navy feels pretty much the same way but both of these Services are of course outnumbered by the doggies, strike that, ARMY personnel.

Personally, I wouldn't mind snapping off a crisp salute now and again, and I did just that a few years back when attending a Veterans Day Parade in Australia. To my astonishment, a North Vietnamese Army group had assembled just behind our ranks, and I moved to the rear to provide security in case some of our lads were feeling a tad frisky over this. Those poor little fellows saw me stomping in their direction, so I stopped, fired off a magnificent salute in their direction, they returned it, and all went well.

Hey, I can't be held responsible for not capping them ALL, so bygones as bygones, yadda yadda.

Never DID see an Army dude toss a decent salute, but what the hell. If it lights the old candle and is done with respect, then go for it.

Size of L.A. March Surprises Authorities

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Thousands of immigration advocates marched through downtown Los Angeles in one of the largest demonstrations for any cause in recent U.S. history. More than 500,000 protesters - demanding that Congress abandon attempts to make illegal immigration a felony and to build more walls...

Beaners are funny. They wave funny looking flags. Never the AMERICAN flag of course. That would mean becoming an AMERICAN, and not a fugitive from justice. And take that 500,000 with a healthy grain of salt, but who gives a rats ass WHAT criminals want or don't want. What AMERICANS want is for these crooks to enter legally, stay home, or be sent to camps when captured, then back to beanerville attached to an itemized bill for our time and effort. If Zorro...the Mexican President our liberal media refers to as Fox because calling him by his given name would be too frickin hilarious...doesn't pay up, then we annex whatever halfway decent land we so desire to pay the tab for his countrybeans.

What's he going to do? Attack the Alamo again? Coolbeans. We could get Ang Lee to direct a movie about it.

Brokeback Beaners.

Condi says we'll talk to the Russkies...

Than maybe have some tea, and this time she'll remember to bring a cake, and...

So okay, I was dead-wrong about Condi. She's in over her head, comes out with ludicrous nanny-isms unbefitting a conservative administration, forgets that she came from nowhere and with scant qualifications for the post yet bitches about senior diplomats who've actually paid their dues, and while she's not Maddy Al(not-so)bright chasing Arafat down a hall in high heels just to get him back to talking to those evil Jews, her tenure has been a disappointment for me. But W does so like his secretary gals and with any luck she won't say or do anything all that stupid over the next several years.

Rice: U.S. to Query Russia on Iraq Intel

"We will certainly raise it with the Russian government. We want to take a real hard look at the documents and then raise it with the Russian government," Rice said on NBC's "Meet the Press."

"I will tell you that we take very seriously any suggestion that a foreign government may have passed information to the Iraqis prior to the American invasion that might have put our troops in danger," Rice told "Fox News Sunday."
"I do think we owe it to everyone to take a hard look at the reports and to really understand what's there."
_____________________
I kind of get the impression she wants to raise a hard look, or something hard, or maybe both but what do I know. But if anyone knows what those documents contain it is she, and pretending that some nebulous nuance might have escaped her perusal is ludicrous.

And now for some more news about the domestic partner of the country's worst President...

"Hillary Clinton contends that based on "my understanding of the Scripture," a GOP bill to crack down on illegal immigration by making it a felony to be in this country unlawfully "would literally criminalize the Good Samaritan and probably even Jesus himself."
Now, the senator's words may have been politically wise. She's been taking heavy fire from the left for being so noticeably silent on the whole illegal immigration issue - so why not wade in with a pronouncement that's sure to grab headlines?

But Rep. Peter King (R-Long Island), chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, rightly wonders just what she's talking about.
Did Jesus illegally smuggle would-be immigrants into the Holy Land?
Actually, King's bill, which Clinton condemns, is aimed at those who cynically make a buck off of those who are willing to risk coming here illegally and those who abuse those people once they're here.
He says he finds it hard to believe that Jesus would risk lives by crowding hundreds of people on board a broken-down ship for a dangerous sea journey, or marching them across a desert with no food and water, or abandoning them at the border.

To be sure, this isn't the first time Hillary has uttered such nonsense in an effort to bolster her Bible Belt credentials. Last fall, she compared the plight of Hurricane Katrina refugees to Mary and Joseph searching for a place to stay in Bethlehem, adding caustically: "At least they didn't have to worry about FEMA."

Fortunately, Congress will decide such issues based on what's in the Constitution, not the Scriptures (or Pastor Hillary's interpretation of them, anyway).

Praise the Lord."

Thoughts for a sunny Sunday

What the Clinton years wrought, or, no longer The Arsenal of Democracy.

Does anyone remember the arsenal of Democracy. Gave me a chill when I first heard that phrase. WWII taught us the lesson we'd never forget, but then some of the brainiacs who ran major corporations hitched their stars to liberal politicians and the slippery slope became forever greased with bad intentions.

Slick Willie's administration closed more armories, warehouses, and ammunition plants than any in recent history, to be replaced by the just-in-time sort of inventory that businesses love, but a military cannot abide by. Soldiers, sailors, and Marines live and die by being able to leap into the fray fulled armed and at a moments notice, and what IBM feels is just-in-time can't hack it in the business of life and death.

We had storage facilities and warehouses all over the country, hell, the world, and it's true that you go to war with the army you have, but if the army has had it's logistics torn asunder by the bean counters men will die because central warehousing seems to be a great idea. Forts, camps, bases, outposts, all necessary to feed the pipeline of a capable war machine no longer exist, and National Guard units are scrambling to find a rifle here, a sidearm there, just to maintain a moderate level of training.

Donald Rumsfeld was continuing these disastrous policies right up until the ridiculous armor flap of a year or so back, and just when you come to believe they've seen the error of their ways he or someone under him wil be crowing about how much money they've saved the military by shutting down some "antiquated" storage facility.

And more of the people sworn to protect us will die. Walk into a large police facility in ANY big liberal community and you'll see more weapons and more capabilities than most standing army's have. The moonbats DO so love being protected, but despise outfitting our service people to the same level of readiness.

The Arsenal of Democracy. Not us, not any more. There was never a time when the 2nd Amendment was more important. We are at war with an insidious foe, besieged by a criminal presence that attacks from within, and law enforcement has heard from the highest courts that they must no longer protect their communities. It then falls on the shoulders of each and every one of us to keep and bear the arms necessary for our survival, all the while fighting the liberals who would make us victims.

But, let the yearly flu vaccine dwindle to the same just-in-time level of inventory and watch them howl.

AFGHAN COURT DISMISSES CASE AGAINST MAN WHO HAD FACED DEATH FOR CONVERTING FROM ISLAM TO CHRISTIANITY

One small victory at a time, and the next thing you know someday there will be moslems acting akin to sophisticated human beings.

Kudos to the court that took the first step.

MORE

Well, it appears that the court released him due to "lack of evidence", and not because the charge itself was preposterous. Still...a small step in the direction of Democracy and away from a kangaroo court at an all-night camel stop. I'll be a Pollyanna on this one. That way, when the barbaric sand fleas change their mind and execute the man I won't feel bad about calling them barbaric sand fleas.

But...But...Don't The Criminals Know That This Is Illegal??

British Army 'lost' guns end up on streets...

BRIAN BRADYWESTMINSTER EDITOR

"DOZENS of lethal weapons have disappeared from Britain's high-security military bases and found their way on to the streets, it has emerged. Defence chiefs admitted they have managed to lose almost a hundred weapons, including high-powered rifles, pistols and even a light machine-gun in recent years. Many of the guns have ended up in the hands of some of the country's most brutal criminals, including a Yardie gang in London - sparking fears that weapons have been stolen to order from bases.

Some have simply been lost by military personnel in a series of embarrassing incidents, including one in which an army captain left a loaded gun in a supermarket toilet. New figures obtained by Scotland on Sunday show that, despite massive security at bases and strict rules on issue of firearms, thieves have managed to steal 63 weapons from the army, air force and navy over the past five years: 19 pistols, 27 rifles, 16 antique weapons and a light machine-gun. In the same period, 34 weapons were lost, while more than 500 pieces of ammunition were stolen.

One defence insider said: "The figures in these various categories go up and down a bit every year, but we are still losing a lot of guns. A few of them will be genuinely lost, or taken as souvenirs by squaddies. But we cannot ignore the fact that most of them will be making their way on to the black market."

The Tory defence spokesman Julian Lewis said the numbers had been declining slightly in recent years, but he remained concerned by at least one item. He told Scotland on Sunday: "I'm a civilian and I may be ill-informed, but I am particularly concerned about the possibility that a machine-gun is not where it should be. I would want to know exactly what the circumstances were in which a machine-gun made it out of a military installation."

MPs became aware of the problem after it emerged that guns stolen from a Ministry of Defence (MoD) armoury were sold to Yardie-type drug dealers. The Defence Committee was stirred into action following the revelation that 28 Browning handguns and shotguns stolen in a raid on the Royal School of Artillery armoury at Larkhill barracks in Wiltshire were still missing. Bruce George, a Labour MP and former chairman of the MPs' defence select committee, said: "I would express some anxiety about any cache of weapons which fall into the hands of terrorists or criminal organisations. "It is disturbing when these guns may well have emanated from British military sources." The thefts reached a peak in 2003, the first year of Britain's Iraq campaign, with 19 thefts of weapons, including six pistols and 11 antiques.

One of the most dramatic losses came last autumn when 14 Signals Regiment had to suspend a military exercise at Templeton airfield in Pembrokeshire after an SA80 rifle - capable of firing 700 rounds a minute - went missing. That followed the recovery of a handgun left by an army captain in a supermarket toilet in Hertfordshire. It was found in a postbox a few days later."

Colonel Cooper Comments

"Islam may indeed have its virtues, but they must be sought for carefully and objectively. Winston Churchill, "the greatest man of the 19th century and the greatest Englishman of all time," put it thus:"

"How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live."A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men."Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome."Sir Winston Churchill (The River War, first edition, Vol. II, pages 248-50.

There's the usual from the old Light Bird, the above quote of Churchill's coming as the end piece of this months Cooper Commentaries. More and more, it is as plain as the nose on your face that old Jeff has no patience with those who obtain things to have and to hold, rather than as a specific need. The obligatory complaint about why someone would need this weapon, or that...and living with this man must have been one helluva tribulation for his sainted wife...and while it's obvious he doesn't get out much anymore*, he remains a good read.

*Senior NCO's are the ones who teach officers what they need to know, such as, say, tying a good knot in a dress shoe so it doesn't fall off as one is walking, and it'd be nice if the Colonel could find himself a reliable modern-day instructor.

This Just In...

An old friend of mine, still in the Corps, sent me this picture that was found by a Marine Force Recon team in a palace on the outskirts of Baghdad.

Explains a lot, doesn't it.
39% evil, 61% good

That's my latest rating at The Sect of Homokaasu - The Gematriculator

Couldn't rate the entire first page as it is too verbose...yeah I've been windy as of late and so have the folks being quoted, so we had to settle for 3/4 or so.

Still and all a nice progression to evil.

We Get Letters...

"Here's the scoop...

I'm in PA, out with my girlfriend at a local mall. I'm open carrying (I do often and have at this exact mall before). We're shopping around, doing our usual thing, and we hit a store where she wanted to try clothes on. She starts to try clothes on in a fitting room, and after about five minutes and two outfits, I notice out of the corner of my eye a LEO standing in front of the store, pacing and on his radio.

Thirty seconds later, I see him walk in, and I already knew why he was there. I turned towards him and said light-heartedly "i know why you're here".He asked me if I had a firearm on me, disarmed me, and asked for my license. I obliged, then asked why it was needed since PA is an open carry state. He said he just needed to verify it, etc, and not to worry as I'm not in any trouble.

A few minutes later, a second LEO arrives, handles my Glock, then empties out the clip that was laying out in the open on a display shelf. I was then asked by the second LEO:"why are you carrying a gun"? to which I replied "for self-defense, as on my LTC". I was then told by the second LEO that only police and federal officers should carry a gun, and there is no reason why I should. They then asked me the first question again but added "why... in a mall?" I replied because of the mall shootings last year, and the recent Denny's shooting.I started chatting it up with the first LEO about me taking the act 120 and my interest in LE. I was then told "if I have an illegal weapons charge" against me, I wouldn't be eligible to get into LE. I asked "what illegal weapon", and was told about me possessing in the mall. I asked what was wrong, and they told me I cannot carry in the mall, that it's against policy.

I questioned where it was posted and was told it's not, and my responsibility to call and ask if I can carry in the establishment. I've never heard of this before and obliged to them. After them checking my firearms registration and license for any warrants, they walked me through the mall to my car, and sent me on my way.The encounter was so-so. I was uneasy by the questioning from the second LEO, and my girlfriend was pissed because of the situation.

I did learn some things about Act 120 before I take the course though...So, any comments regarding my situation tonight? I know some may not like open carry, but it is legal in my state and I am happy to exercise my rights.
_________________________
I cannot give legal advice because I am what I am but that does not include being something dirty like a lawyer, or some other criminal. I've checked the PA laws and nowhere does it state that the burden of proof is on the individual regarding carrying inside a place of business. PA strictly forbids any sort of carry inside a courthouse, police station, or the grounds of a school. Open-carry is quite legal and there is no "brandishment" law. Therefore, the strong presumption has to be made that you're a young guy, the second cop was an older guy, and the vast majority of police do not like the idea of civilian carry.

My recommendation would be to contact your local Attorney General and ask for a ruling on carry within a business that prohibits such. In most every other state, such businesses must post signs to this effect and one does not break the law by carrying, but may be asked to leave. But hey, you can be asked to leave ANY place of business, it's their right to withhold service from whomever they wish, as long as THEY are not breaking a law. A few states make it a misdemeanor to disregard a posted sign prohibiting the carry of a firearm, but in each and every one of them the sign must comply with the letter of the law and cannot be some crayon-scrawl saying No-Guns-In-Hear, Ya'll, and if it isn't posted it isn't a problem.

In your instance, there were no signs. Of any kind. If this is a fact, then dollars to donuts it's the cops busting your balls. Happens every day in every town and every state in the Union.

You were threatened by an officer of the law. He told you that you were facing an illegal weapons charge. Call the DA's office. If all of this is the bullshit it seems to be, then call the cop shop and ask how you may then file a complaint against the officer's in question.

On a personal note, this is why a lot of people DO frown upon open-carry in places other than the wilderness. You scare the shit out of the sheeple, law enforcement officers then must get off their ass to go talk to you, and this pisses them off. I'm not saying that you shouldn't be exercising your Constitutional right, but this is what happens when a young guy who doesn't even know the law in his own town walks outside with a gun.

Why DIDN'T you know?
