NEW YORK (AP) -- "The Queens district attorney's office on Monday dropped charges against a black teenager who says he was racially profiled by four New York City police officers and beaten without provocation.
Xavier Simpson, 17, of Long Island, was charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct in June. Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said in a statement that there was insufficient evidence to support the charges.
Simpson's lawyer, Norman Siegel, said his client did nothing wrong.
"But the police did, and they need to be held accountable," Siegel said. "We can no longer have racial profiling in the city of New York. We are pleased the DA did the right thing here, but they need to complete the investigation."
According to Siegel, Simpson was on 221st Street near 113th Avenue in Queens on June 8 when four police officers in an unmarked car summoned him. Siegel said the police - a sergeant and three officers from the 105th precinct - asked Simpson basic questions, such as his name, which he answered. Then, and for no apparent reason, according to Siegel, the police got out of the car and began hitting and kicking Simpson. The teenager was handcuffed, taken to the precinct and strip-searched, Siegel said..." Here's the real story. This neanderthal disguising itself as a person was in the middle of the street, banging on passing cars and demanding money when the cops arrived. When the police decided it was too dangerous to be allowed to remain amongst civilized beings it began flailing and kicking as they tried to cuff it. But because NYC, alone amongst all other cities the country over, has a specific NO-PROFILING law, the creature's plea for mercy made a weepy DA's Office cave, and it'll soon be back to it's old tricks. And why does NY have such a law? Where else can liberal politicians find enough saps to vote for them if they don't cater to villains, thieves, and scoundrels?
