Thankfully, Nobody Poked Their Eye Out

Shots from BB gun put Crest school in lockdown

EAST COUNTY: "Students at Crest Elementary School were locked down in classrooms yesterday until sheriff's deputies arrested a teenager who had fired a BB gun at the school, authorities said.

No one was injured. Two school windows were damaged by BBs, Sgt. Joseph Sprecco said.

Deputies from Santee, Lakeside and Alpine headed to the campus on Suncrest Boulevard about 2:45 p.m. when someone was reported to be shooting at the school. Officials locked down the campus and a sheriff's helicopter joined the search for the shooter, Sprecco said.

The helicopter crew gave a description of the shooter over a public address system, which was heard by a librarian at Crest Public Library next to the school. The librarian called the Sheriff's Department about 3:15 p.m. and said a boy of that description was sitting in the back of the library.

Deputies arrested a 14-year-old boy and found a BB gun in a planter near the library front door, Sprecco said. The teen was booked into Juvenile Hall on suspicion of possessing a weapon on school grounds and misdemeanor vandalism."

Good thing, too. As we all know, BB-guns are gateway weapons that lead to bigger and meaner and more powerful arms.

Tell ya one thing, though; kid is lucky they didn't SWAT his ass but good. Nowadays it doesn't take all that much to create a frenzied state of abject hysteria among members of the constabulary. Damned things could break the skin and lead to one nasty ass infection if not NIPPED IN THE BUD.
