LEBANON, Pa. -- "Lebanon's police chief is urging women to exercise caution and common sense when using recreational areas.
The warning comes on the heels of a reported sexual assault along one walking and biking path. At this point, Chief Dan Wright said Monday's attack appears to be random.
Wright is advising women not to walk alone at night or in the early-morning hours along a couple of popular trails.
The sexual assault allegedly happened on the Greenway Path between 11th and 12th streets just before 5 a.m. Monday.A 25-year-old woman said she was knocked to the ground and raped.
The attack has women who use another popular recreation area, the Rail Trail, worried."I don't know what they can do to protect themselves. People should go with at least two people, not alone. Although I have walked alone myself at times during the middle of the day," said Susan Comp. "I live in Mount Gretna and would never walk alone in the evening hours."
And there you have it. Go peacefully into that dark night, hand over your rights, your very humanity, because... To fight back is simply unacceptable. Unthinkable, even, it would seem. Now tell me...were the majority of women ALWAYS such sheep?
Caution and common sense, the police chief says. In other words, stay the fuck home.
