"The identity of the first puppy -- the one that the Washington press corps has been yelping about for months, the one President Obama has seemed to delight in dropping hints about -- leaked out yesterday. This despite White House efforts to delay the news until the big debut planned for Tuesday afternoon.
The little guy is a 6-month-old Portuguese water dog given to the Obama girls as a gift by that Portuguese water dog-lovin' senator himself, Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts. The girls named it Bo -- and let it be noted that you learned that here first."Seriously now, you simply can't make this shit up. I had emailed the White House with the recommendation that the new First Dog...no, not Michelle...should be named Obo, so at least the kids got it half right.
But the surreal beauty of it all is Senator Ted Kennedy, THE SWIMMER, mind you, giving the Obama girls a Portuguese Water Dog.
Hey, at least they didn't name it "Mary-Jo".
Hmmm...
Come to think of it, the pup IS lots prettier than Shelly so I guess she does keep the title of First Dog.
