Subject: Support for Military Families Needed.

Florida Military Message Center (FMMC)From: CAPT William E. Knehans, USN (Ret) President, Florida Council of Chapters
Military Officers Association of America

Subj: FMMC - Military Families Displaced by Hurricane Katrina It has been learned that military families from bases in Alabama and Mississippi who were displaced by Hurricane Katrina are arriving in Pensacola with little more than the clothes on their backs. Naval Air Station Pensacola is housing these families at the BOQ and they are being provided three meals a day. They also have kennels available for family pets.

Naval Air Station Pensacola has set up an "Evacuation Depot" where they are accepting donations of clothing, toys, baby strollers, personal hygiene items, etc.

The Evacuation Depot is not accepting cash, but do suggest gift certificates for WalMart, KMart, Target, etc. that can be used for families who need items that might not be available in the Evacuation Depot. This is an opportunity to take care of our own as they struggle to rebuild their lives after Hurricane Katrina. The President of Pensacola Chapter, MOAA has volunteered to serve as a point of contact to receive gift certificates (No cash, please). Please mail gift certificates to:

RADM Joan Engel, USN (Ret)
8775 Thunderbird Drive
Pensacola, FL 32514-5660

Please give this message the widest possible dissemination among your members and thank you in advance for any aid you can provide.

Sincerely,

Bill
CAPT William E. Knehans, USN (Ret)President
