As we noted yesterday, John Roberts as the metaphorical umpire was taken up by nearly all of the Senators during the hearing today, save for Senator Feinstein. The Senator was kind enough to send me an email referencing my comparison to the book "The Umpire Strikes Back", and said that she too would have had something to say about the Judge's comparison, but had never seen any of the Star Wars movies and felt it was outside her area of expertise.
"Shoes", the Senator said, "Shoes are what it's about, shoes and the Roman Empire and their back-alley abortions and have you ever heard of female gladiators? Of course not, that's because their Senate wasn't paying any attention to the..."
Indeed.
