They DO NOT Have M-16's unless they took them from the police or the military. It it illegal for Civilian firearms dealerships to sell automatic weapons, and what the clueless mayor is reporting to the clueless press is most likely the SEMI-automatic AR-15 version of this rifle. That's okay, even O'Reilly reported that thugs were roaming the streets with AK-47's...and he's got a staff of thousands vetting HIS stuff, and AK's are illegal as well. Knockoff weapons designed to LOOK like military weapons are an entirely different firearm...think of making a fiberglass replica of a Corvette and putting an old Volkswagon Beetle engine under the hood. Looks like it, ain't close to the performance, but is pleasing to the aficianado.
Those clarifications aside, we've said all along what should be done with looters, but if the authorities simply shoot these cretins the next deluge to inundate the city will be from the tide of bleeding heart moonbats arriving to form human shields for the killers.
