The U.S. Army converged on Washington D.C. for the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Annual Meeting at the Washington Convention Center that kicked off Monday.


"General Dynamics unveiled its new concept for a new army light tank that weighs in at about 28 tons. The demonstrator dominated in that tank sort of way and was one of the big reveals.
Dubbed the Griffin, the medium-weight tracked vehicle demonstrator combines elements of the M1A1/M1A2 Abrams with the company’s Ajax Scout Specialist Vehicle. Elements from the Abrams include the main battle tank turret and 120 mm cannon – although this version of the turret is designed to be lighter. From the Ajax, the Griffin incorporates the AJAX chassis and power pack.

 It was shown kitted out with the 120 mm XM360 gun. If the program progresses, other features like explosive reactive armor could be incorporated.
This new light tank has potential to provide a solution for rapid deployment and mobility with significant firepower and protection."

In fact the country will build more coal-fired facilities this year than at any time in the past two decades — bringing an estimated 5,300 megawatts of new capacity online. Most of these facilities will burn lignite, too, which is strip-mined and emits nearly 30 percent more carbon dioxide than hard coal.

In other words Germany is dirtying the planet in the name of clean energy — and sticking its citizens with an ever-escalating tab so it can subsidize an energy source which will never generate sufficient power.

LA Cops Go On Shooting Spree...Awaiting The Reaction From Nancy Pelosi

LOS ANGELES — Thousands of police officers throughout Southern California and neighboring states hunted Thursday for a disgruntled former Los Angeles officer wanted for going on a deadly shooting rampage that he warned in an online posting would target those on the force who wronged him, authorities said.
Police issued a statewide "officer safety warning" and police were sent to protect people named in the posting that was believed to be written by the fired officer, Christopher Dorner, who has military training. Among those mentioned were members of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The hunt for Dorner led to two errant shootings in the pre-dawn darkness Thursday.
Los Angeles officers guarding a "target" named in the posting shot and wounded two women in suburban Torrance who were in a pickup but were not involved, authorities said. It's not clear if the target is a person or a location. Beck said one woman was in stable condition with two gunshot wounds and the other was being released after treatment.

"Tragically we believe this was a case of mistaken identity by the officers," Beck said.

Minutes later Torrance officers responding to a report of gunshots encountered a dark pickup matching the description of Dorner's, said Torrance Sgt. Chris Roosen. A collision occurred and the officers fired on the pickup. The unidentified driver was not hit and it turned out not to be the suspect vehicle, Roosen said.
"We're asking our officers to be extraordinarily cautious just as we're asking the public to be extraordinarily cautious with this guy. He's already demonstrated he has a propensity for shooting innocent people," said Smith, the LAPD commander.

Just for a moment try to envision the response you'd get after shooting innocent people because they happened to be driving a vehicle resembling someone on a wanted list. Whoops, sorry about those bullet holes, just a case of mistaken identity, and what's an "errant" round or two between friends?

Teaching cops when, where, and how to shoot is really the only form of gun control needed. But they, you see, are the ones trusted to own and carry virtually any firearm in existence because their little boys club would otherwise pout if denied the right to shoot more innocent people than criminals.

Women May Soon Be Drafted

Females may be included in the Selective Service and qualify for a potential draft should one be ordered by the president, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said.
The U.S. military’s civilian leader lamented that he didn’t know who ran the Selective Service, but whoever does will “have to exercise some judgment based on what we just did,” Panetta said at a Pentagon press conference Thursday.
On Thursday, Panetta and Army Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lifted the official ban on women serving in combat roles, removing gender barriers from jobs in the military.

There's a reason why women have their own sporting venues. Simply put, they cannot compete with men.

War isn't tennis or golf, and to dilute the combat efficiency of an all-male unit is nothing short of criminal.

Besides the fact that not one free nation in the world uses women in combat roles. A lot of this ludicrous hubbub began back when some Israeli gals from the steno pool hopped on a passing tank after the 3-day war, and a myth was born.

Draft them? Sure. Every unit could use some extra clerk-typists. But you all know what will really happen, now don't you. The standards will be lowered. As usual. Real life isn't some Hollywood war flick where oh so tough gals not only keep pace with but often exceed what their male counterparts are capable of.

Iranian Nuke Facility Goes BOOM

An explosion deep within Iran’s Fordow nuclear facility has destroyed much of the installation and trapped about 240 personnel deep underground, according to a former intelligence officer of the Islamic regime.

According to a source in the security forces protecting Fordow, an explosion on Monday at 11:30 a.m. Tehran time rocked the site, which is buried deep under a mountain and immune not only to airstrikes but to most bunker-buster bombs. The report of the blast came via Hamidreza Zakeri, formerly with the Islamic regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and National Security.

The blast shook facilities within a radius of three miles. Security forces have enforced a no-traffic radius of 15 miles, and the Tehran-Qom highway was shut down for several hours after the blast, the source said. As of Wednesday afternoon, rescue workers had failed to reach the trapped personnel.

RIP Stan The Man

Stan Musial, the St. Louis Cardinals star with the corkscrew stance and too many batting records to fit on his Hall of Fame plaque, died Saturday. He was 92.

Most of Stan's glory days happened before my birth or memory, but our Dad's raved about him which was unusual for an out of town player.

Arms In Battle: The Gatling

Witnessing the assault on San Juan Hill, Col. Roosevelt decided to cross the steep ravine from Kettle Hill to San Juan Hill to support the fighting still going on there. Calling for his men to follow him, he ran forward, only to find just five of the Rough Riders following him (most had not heard his command). Roosevelt returned and gathered together a larger group of his men, leading them down the western slope of Kettle Hill, past a small lagoon, and up the northern extension of San Juan Hill, but the fighting was over for the top of the heights. General Summer intercepted Roosevelt and ordered him back to Kettle Hill immediately to prepare for the expected counterattack. When he returned his men were exhausted and his horse was again spent from the heat. A counterattack directed at Kettle Hill by some 600 Spanish infantry was stopped primarily by the fire of a single ten-barreled .30 Gatling Gun manned by Sergeant Green of the Gatling Gun Detachment, which (according to Spanish officers captured after the attack) killed or wounded all but 40 of the Spanish attackers.<sup>[18]

You read that right. Five hundred and sixty men mowed down by a single Gatling Gun isn't anything I'd normally take as gospel, but there's enough eye witness evidence to prove it. We really didn't have the rifles to compete with the Spaniards, but the Gatling's struck fear into them and well it should have.</sup>

If I Had A Hammerrrr, I'd Kill More People Than Guns Do...If I Had A...

This is an interesting fact, particularly amid the Democrats' feverish push to ban many different rifles, ostensibly to keep us safe of course. 
However, it appears the zeal of Sens. like Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) is misdirected. For in looking at the FBI numbers from 2005 to 2011, the number of murders by hammers and clubs consistently exceeds the number of murders committed with a rifle. 
Think about it: In 2005, the number of murders committed with a rifle was 445, while the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs was 605. In 2006, the number of murders committed with a rifle was 438, while the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs was 618. 
And so the list goes, with the actual numbers changing somewhat from year to year, yet the fact that more people are killed with blunt objects each year remains constant.
For example, in 2011, there was 323 murders committed with a rifle but 496 murders committed with hammers and clubs.

Another interesting fact: According to the FBI, nearly twice as many people are killed by hands and fists each year than are killed by murderers who use rifles.
The bottom line: A rifle ban is as illogical as it is unconstitutional. We face far greater danger from individuals armed with carpenters' tools and a caveman's stick. 
And it seems fairly obvious that if more people had a gun, less people would be inclined to try to hit them in the head with a hammer.

Today we wanted to send out a short notice about the current situation in the gun industry.

Most of you have heard of the panic buying that has been occurring since proposed gun control legislation has been discussed daily on the news. We wanted to try to keep our customers informed of what we see going on from our end, both bad and good.

First the BAD:

1. There are extensive shortages of several key items. Products that may be banned are often no longer in stock, such as mags over 10rds for AR-15, AK-47, popular pistols, and ammo in key calibers. The urge to stock up on these items continues to be very strong and we are unsure what supply will be like in the future. Manufacturers may not be able to keep up, some stating that future supplies will be limited for quite some time, especially on AR and AK rifles and magazines.

2. Prices are going up. This is a fact of life during shortages due to increased demand and short supply. If you browse gun auction websites you will see the value of items climbing daily. Luckily most of the prices at J&G Sales have not changed and remain stable, although some items have increased, or will soon. The increased prices are due to several factors, including:

A. Suppliers who have increased our costs when we order replacement stock.

B. Suppliers no longer importing or producing certain items at all, making what is currently available no longer replaceable and increasing its value.

C. Some price increases to allow items to be available to more people over a longer period, preventing a few resellers from buying everything.

Now the GOOD:

1. Many suppliers are ramping up production to try to get product to the dealers to restock as soon as possible. We are expecting AR-15 mags to continue coming in, as well as handgun mags, and ammo. Shipments will probably be smaller than previously, as manufacturers try to spread around the supply and not ship it all to only one or two dealers. Gun production is more difficult to increase, and many manufacturers were already running close to full capacity before the rush. We do expect more domestically produced guns, although AR style rifles will probably be available only in small batches. Unfortunately, we do not expect a steady supply of AK style rifles for some time.

2. Prices seem to be stabilizing a bit, although they will continue to be extremely volatile depending on the details of new legislation, and on continued word from manufacturers regarding future availability.

In summary, we hope these times will pass and enough government representatives will remember their oaths of office and keep our freedom intact. We at J&G plan to stick it out for the long haul and continue to supply our customers into the future. We pledge to you that we will not cave to outside societal pressure and will stay loyal to you and continue selling lawful items to law abiding citizens. 

I still do all of my  purchases from J&G, as they are top notch and super reliable. Yes, I've added to my collection of Curio & Relics, but just don't believe it is the right time to be giving potential villains thieves and scoundrels the impetus to come a'knocking'.

 Gunshine State Tops A Million Packers

Officials in Florida expected that the total number of Sunshine State concealed carry permit holders would exceed one million by the end of 2012.
Doubling since 2007, the number of concealed weapons license holders will top 5 percent of Florida’s 19.1 million residents in a state that is number one nationally in licenses issued, the News Service of Florida reported.  Florida has been licensing concealed weapons since 1987, when state officials took over authority from counties that had a patchwork of requirements regarding who could carry and what was needed to qualify for a license.
Clearly it is a popular law and has been taken advantage of by a large number of Floridians who have acted responsibly, said Adam Putnam, commissioner of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, the agency which oversees the state¹s concealed carry program.
Floridians who are obtaining these licenses are obtaining them for the right reason and are using them in an appropriate way.

At least one million...far too many forget to re-register...and not one criminal act committed. Except for forgetting to re-register.

Does your state have at least 5% of it's male population ready to step in when necessary to stop the slaughter?

...died on Christmas eve. Back in the late 50's and early 60's, Klugman, 90, was everywhere on the new thing called television, and for my money was the best worst actor ever. Forever over-emoting, he made the small screen seem much bigger. The Sweet Science Loses Emanuel

I've been a fan of boxing longer than I can remember. There just isn't a memory of mine not linked to appreciating the Sweet Science, but my recollection of bottle feedings are admittedly dim so who knows. Back in the late 50's/early 60's, my friend John and I would sneak into the old armory and watch club fights. Chance would have it that one of the ushers was a parishioner of our elementary school/church, and whenever the front rows would thin out he'd let us move down to ringside. He even taught us the old trick of bringing along the biggest paper bags we could find, then cutting eye holes before draping them over our heads. It was messy, very, very messy that close to the action, and going home with blood spattered shirts, hair and faces would mean the end of life as we knew it a nanosecond after our moms saw the carnage.

Emanuel Steward died last Thursday, October 25th to be precise, and I'll miss his contributions to HBO boxing.

Not the swiftest of repartee swappers, I often felt like he was a man not accustomed to split second chatter, and this, in my mind, led to his seeming to be, at times, clueless about the goings on right before his very eyes.

But he wasn't dumb, or slow. Just thoughtful, and thoughtful doesn't mesh all that well with television.

And then, when I get back to the gym the next day and take off those tuxedos, it keeps me connected with reality, that everybody isn’t living the big life. A “very, very disappointed” Gen. Patrick Brady has slammed the U.S. Army for forgetting the lessons of the legendary “Dust Off” helicopter ambulance program from the Vietnam War.

It was in an interview on “Talk Back with Chuck Wilder,” that Brady, a recipient of the Medal of Honor, explained that bureaucratic changes within the Army are endangering wounded soldiers.

He’s also the author of “Dead Men Flying: Victory in Vietnam.”

Here's the scoop in a tough nutshell:  The Army sends in its dustoff choppers replete with the ridiculous red cross symbol that serves as a SHOOT ME HERE advertizement. The helicopters are also weaponless, because the brass feel that arming a medical transport is contrary to the Geneva and Hague accords, which of courses is blatant nonsense as we are not fighting an enemy army that is signatory to either convention. Marines, on the other hand, dispatch armed to the teeth medevacs that can fight their way in and out of the mission, because the lives of Marines come before the Commander-In-Thief's demands that no Afghan citizen be denied the right to kill American servicemen. And instead of the pilots determining the go or no go, the brass furiously debate the politics of launching.

And, since it is that season once more, military transports are being diverted to ferrying Obama's election campaign which of course employs far more assets than ever. This doesn't effect the medevacs, mind you, just the arrival and departure of troops and supplies from theater in favor of debate and campaign venues.

Army Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is among those who believe that Gen. William Ward, the former head of U.S. Africa Command, should be allowed to retire at his full four-star general rank, the officials said.
A Defense Department inspector general's report released in mid-August concluded that Ward "engaged in multiple forms of misconduct related to official and unofficial travel." It said Ward "conducted official travel for primarily personal reasons," misused military aircraft and received reimbursement for travel expenses that far exceeded the approved daily military rate without authorization.

Seems like this Obama appointee emulated his commander in thief by spending taxpayer monies like it grew on trees.

Hostage Killed By NYPD

An innocent worker was shot and killed by cops after being taken hostage two thugs inside a Bronx bodega, witnesses and family said. Reynaldo Cuevas, 20, was inside the Natalie Grocery store on East 168th and was taken hostage after two men entered the store around 2 a.m., Cuevas' cousin told The Post.

After a couple hours (sic), one of thugs surrended (sic) to cops and was arrested at the scene.
Cuevas, who was not being held at gunpoint, ran out of the store and tripped on a fire hydrant before being shot by police, witnesses said.

Police "shot him [Reynaldo] right in the neck," Garcia said. "He didn't have his hands up. He fell to the ground and the cops grabbed him by the arm and dragged him on the street."

Cuevas was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he died. The officer who fired his weapon was taken to Jacobi Hospital for observation."

Marines "Testing" Women For Combat Roles

WASHINGTON -- There may be some anxiety from male Marines as female officers work their way into infantry and other combat jobs that historically have been open only to men, Gen. James F. Amos, the Marine Corps commandant, said Tuesday.
Amos said early steps to begin moving women into artillery, tank air defense and combat engineer units have been successful, but the more difficult tests lie ahead.
"Change doesn't come easy to the United States Marine Corps," Amos told an audience at the National Press Club. "But when it does, when it's rooted, it lasts forever. So I think we'll work our way through it."
A key challenge will take place next month as female Marine officers attend the grueling infantry officer school at a Marine Corps base in Virginia as part of an experiment to gauge whether women can handle the course's extreme physical and mental challenges. So far, two women have volunteered to go through the 13-week course, which historically sees attrition rates of 20 percent to 25 percent when only men are participating.

There has never been a female attached to a ground combat unit anywhere in the free world.

The Israeli's tried it and dropped it at once. The Brits tried it and said sorry old chappette, but maybe next time, and even our Army decided it was ludicrous to expect the average female to perform as well as her male counterpart.

After a dog owner lost control of her pit bull in Lewiston, Idaho, the dog ran off her property and attempted to attack a husband and wife out walking their dog. Recognizing the threat, the husband drew a pistol and shot the animal, ending the attack. The pit bull was taken to a local veterinary clinic, but later died.

Following the incident, Lewiston Police Department Captain Tom Greene made clear to local media, “If you’re in fear of your life, fear of your safety, and there is a well founded fear, you are able to defend yourself.” The pit bull was known to authorities, having been labeled a level one dangerous dog after it tried to attack a woman in 2011. Ignorant AND Stupid..Dorm Segregation Seperating Gun Owners From The Rest Of The Students

The University of Colorado may want to check with its law professors on this one. The university system is releasing new Plessy v. Ferguson-like rules that would segregate its gun-owning students from the rest of their peers.

The university system is apparently planning to house students who have Right-to-Carry permits in separate dormitories on its Boulder and Colorado Springs campuses. Guns would be prohibited in other dormitories, as well as at football games, concerts, and other ticketed events.

The university's action is akin to the response of the District of Columbia Council to the Supreme Court's ruling in District of Columbia v. Heller (2008). Miffed at having its beloved handgun ban struck down as a violation of the Second Amendment to the Constitution, the council adopted new gun control laws not covered by the Court’s ruling.

In the Colorado instance, the university is carving out a very limited exception for student permit-holders to comply with the Colorado Supreme Court's ruling that a total gun ban on campus is impermissible.

Kudos to the editorial staff of the Colorado Springs Gazette on this subject.  On Tuesday, the paper pointed out that mass murders typically take place in so-called "gun free zones."  "Given these observations," the newspaper said, "it is beyond belief that members of the Colorado Board of Regents have indulged a publicity stunt that establishes new 'gun‑free' zones on college campuses. Their actions could get students killed. . . . Don't think for a moment they are just trying to protect the young students from violence. They are grandstanding at the potential expense of safety."

Ya know, it isn't the guns or the gun owners that liberals fear, but the possibility of being ruled WRONG on anything. They know best, and to disagree with such sage know-it-alls should trigger (whoops!) a death sentence. Stimulus Money Used To Fund Obama We-Love-Green Commercials

The Labor Department paid out hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal stimulus funds to a public relations firm to run more than 100 commercials touting the Obama administration’s “green training” job efforts on two MSNBC cable shows, records show.

The commercials ran on MSNBC on shows hosted by Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann in 2009, but the contract didn’t report any jobs created, according to records reviewed recently by The Washington Times.

Spending reports under the federal Recovery Act show $495,000 paid to McNeely Pigott & Fox Public Relations LLC, which the Labor Department hired to raise awareness “among employers and influencers about the [Job Corps] program’s existing and new training initiatives in high growth and environmentally friendly career areas” as well as spreading the word to prospective Job Corps enrollees.

The firm ultimately negotiated ad buys for “two approved spots” airing 14 times per week for two months on “Countdown With Keith Olbermann” and “The Rachel Maddow Show,” according to a project report, which listed the number zero under a section of the report asking how many jobs had been created through the stimulus contract.

Hollywood Marine Wannabe Dies After Fitness Test

SAN DIEGO -- A former Army Reserves specialist who died after taking a strength test at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego was identified Monday as a Sacramento resident.

 Marine Recruit Darnell McCowan III, 22, became unresponsive Friday morning after completing a test that consists of three pull-ups, 44 crunches and a 1.5-mile run, according to Maj. Michael Armistead.

" The Marine Corps Recruit Depot extends its deepest condolences to the McCowan family," according to a statement issued by Marine officials. "We are saddened by this sudden loss and our thoughts and prayers are with them at this difficult hour."

Here we go again with the tired old sobriquet "hearts and minds". My Marine Corps has no heart and is basically mindless of but one thing; the enemy must die. And an ounce of prevention would have saved this obvious fatty, because any 22 year old incapable of performing so easy a test did not belong in a Marine uniform, so that should have been apparent from the get-go.

One reason why we referred to the left coast recruits as "Hollywood marines". Yes, all of this is cruel but so what? They didn't pay us to be Mary Poppins.

Emperor Barry Defies The Constitution Yet Again

Effective immediately, the President said, the United States would no longer try to deport any young people who are in this country illegally. If they were brought to this country as children and are not yet 30 years old, they’ll get a free pass for the next two years. The only stipulations are that they have no criminal record and have completed high school, earned a GED diploma or served in the military.

No one knows for sure how many illegals will benefit from the new rule, but estimates are that the number could be as high as 800,000. And no one knows how many votes this ploy will garner the President in November, but it could be several million.

So, once again, we have the disturbing specter of the President of the United States — the Numero Uno government official who, per the Constitution, is responsible for seeing that Federal laws are fully and fairly enforced — blithely announcing that he is going to ignore the law of the land and do whatever he wants.

Of course, this isn’t the first time such a thing has happened. It isn’t even the fourth or fifth time it’s happened. It’s been a hallmark of Obama’s Administration almost from his first year in office, when he said that the Federal government would not enforce the Defense of Marriage Act.

Right now, the Justice Department is waging war on officials in Florida because the Governor there wanted the election rolls purged of any people who are not legal residents of this country. That sounded pretty reasonable to me. But I guess someone in Washington realized that a lot of those illegal aliens were voting for Democrats, so maybe the Florida officials should be stopped.

Florida is basically Conservative and many of us were shocked when the state...barely mind you...went for King Barry The First in the 2008 elections.

Now we know how this was possible. Today, even to renew one's driver license in Florida requires proof of citizenship. That means TWO forms of identification, one with a picture, and a birth certificate alone isn't enough, they want proof of address as well. That means bringing along mail addressed to the licensee, and not even a voter registration card will suffice. No fly by night itinerant with forged paper can get a new license and that's how it should be, so but of course Barry hates the fact that the far southern and northern parts of the state can't truck in bus loads of illegals to vote for him.

In other words, Barry himself would not be allowed to vote here because his birth certificate wouldn't pass muster, and his prior Chicago address changed from day to day depending upon which way the wind was blowing.

Brady's Mum On Drop In Violent Crime

"...the FBI has preliminarily reported a four percent drop in the number of violent crimes from 2010 to 2011, the 18^th drop in the last 20 years. Violent crime is now at about a 41-year low.

Washington Times reporter Emily Miller asked the NRA and the Brady Campaign for their opinions about the trend. The NRA responded that crime has decreased as the number of Right-to-Carry states has risen to an all-time high.

However, Miller noted, "The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence did not respond to requests for comment." Miller added, "Gun‑control advocates are noticeably silent when crime rates decline. Their multimillion‑dollar lobbying efforts are designed to manufacture mass anxiety that every gun owner is a potential killer. The statistics show otherwise."

Met Henry a few times back in the mid to late 70's. Funniest guy I ever listened to. Can't say more* until I'm on my deathbed as well. He died last night at 69.

Raining today, so while I'm cooking outside we're eating inside. The better part of four and a half decades really went by fast, didn't it. Just don't believe I've forgotten your names or your faces, and don't think you've missed anything. You haven't. And while we used to say "don't mean nothin'", in a way it did. At least we taught the country how to welcome back their shot up children. These kids don't have to worry about getting wet paper bags full of dog shit tossed at them, and guess what? Even the newspapers and TV stations are saying the word "hero". What goes around comes around, eh? We just happened to be the tweeners, caught twixt WWII and the modern age so no one knew how to act. Frost Cutlery Continues To Steal Copyrights And Trademarks

As was the case with the theft of designs and trademarks owned by Kershaw, Spyderco, Case, and others, Frost Cutlery will continue to steal from Hanna Barbera, Marvel Comics and DuPont, as we reported upon in the above link. 

My inquiry to them fell upon deaf ears, but it usually takes the threat of legal action by the companies in question, as Frost simply will not do anything honorable until he's caught with his hands in the till and the law is hot upon his conniving ass.

I'll continue to alert Barbera et al but it is doubtful they'll bother with so low a scum as Frost; preferring instead to ignore him and not provide the old crook with any publicity.

HBO's: A Game Of Groans...

As a fan of George R.R. Martin I was as close to positively giddy as an old Marine can be to see how the theatrical presentation of his magnum opus fared on the little screen. A Song of Fire and Ice was simply the best action/adventure/fantasy series of books I'd ever laid eyes on, and while HBO's Game of Groans Thrones couldn't possibly measure up, old George was executive producer so it had to at least be halfway decent, right?

So-so at best. And that's a stretch because I really like George's work. In re-reading just the first 20 pages of the first book I was far more spellbound than the series has far to date woven, and that's just a crying shame.

ALL cable series rely upon two, no, three things to keep the viewer occupied; breasts and "adult" language. Minus the T&A, The Sopranos would have been nothing more than a fat guy weeping to his shrink, and while The Tudors..Showtimes venture into merry old England's most bloodthirsty of royals...was entertaining, it was held firmly in place by the same two, no, three things to keep us occupied. And wow, but the costumes and scenery were superb.

But to have this series yawn on and on with little action/adventure fantasy to sink ones teeth into, we'd have needed superb actors to make the transition work, and all they've given us is a damned fine midget. Films simply cannot present as many characters as a novel can, because we read at a leisurely pace but expect movement from teleVISION, something neither the cast nor the producers or directors seem to understand. The production staff seem bound and determined to feature bad actors doing their level worst to flesh out good characters pouring wine when there are far more heads in need of rolling.

Were it War and Peace, well, okay. Maybe. Awaiting the landing craft to finally hit Omaha Beach was worth it, so the rest of The Longest Day could ramble by without too much yawning, but Fire and Ice is about FANTASY and should have been no holds barred from the get go. Sure, introduce the tediously bad  thespians as you went along, but a taste please, a taste of the real deal should not have taken a season and a half before showing sparks.

If it already hasn't garnered rave reviews, it will, because if its one, no, three things professional reviewers need in order to stamp their seal of approval upon because that means its cutting edge, modern, realistic, and a sight to behold, then Game of Groans Thrones will be a smashing success because it has that in spades.

There was a very good reason Martin entitled every chapter with the name of the character featured therein. The reader could skim the ones he found boring without losing anything of value with regards to the plot.

Take a cue from old George and tape the series, then fast forward to the good stuff. Yes, there's the odd tidbit of genius hidden behind the bad costuming and cheap sets, but keep your finger on the pause button least you miss them.

Time To Once Again Corner The Cutlery Thieves

My latest theft of the month regarding Frost Cutlery is as follows:

A new knife of theirs has been named " The Grape Ape", which of course is the property of Hanna-Barbera.

Another piece of worthless crap is "The Punisher", and that name belongs to Marvel Comics.

And I'll never stop excoriating them for their constant use of  the word "Teflon", as the Chinese have never purchased said material from DuPont nor any of their distributors, relying instead upon their knock off Polytetrafluoroethylene , or PTFE, then calling it "Teflon" which is in violation of more laws than can be listed in a short posting.

Roaches usually scuttle away when a light is shone upon them, and I sent a copy of the above information directly to Mr. James A. Frost hisseff so lets see what goes down.

The "New" Blogger

Typical Booger fuckup. First they email me that since Booger has been revamped I must needs change my password or risk losing the blog altogether, and of course once I did it failed to recognize me at all.

And not for nothing but the new template for posting sucks.

Mourning

I've been feeling much better as of late and was contemplating a return to my usual longwindedness.

Today, April 9, at noon, my Mom died. Three months shy of her 81st birthday; a long and fruitful life.

May her soul and all the souls of our faithful departed rest in peace.

Scam 101

Delrin is a Polyoxymethylene trademarked by DuPont and is not used in the manufacture of bowling balls. It is highly doubtful that Chinese manufacturers are actually using Delrin for anything let alone bowling balls, but far more likely substituting any number of their knockoff plastics, just like they do with Teflon; mixing a home brew of low grade PTFE's and labeling them Teflon.

Delrin is used for knife handles, so at least they got that correct, but as usual the carnival barkers have to embellish with lies in order to make their potmetal products appear more appealing and valuable.
