The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco late on Friday denied an emergency petition sought by the Teamsters union, the Sierra Club and consumer group Public Citizen to halt the start of a one-year pilot program that was approved by Congress after years of legal and political wrangling.
The Transportation Department welcomed the decision and said in a statement that allowing more direct shipments from Mexico will benefit U.S. consumers."
Sure will. Now you can order as many gardeners as your heart desires and they'll be driven right to your door.
Hoffa is irked because there's no way in hell the mexicans will truly reciprocate, and even if they did there wouldn't be many drivers willing to chance confrontations with the corrupt police forces down south. Ours are bad this is true, but the mexican cops are nearly as debauched and bribable as their asian brethren. Doesn't matter if you're driving with official US government plates, you'll still be pulled over and that means forking across a crisp $20 bill unless the car is carrying diplomats, who pay THEIR "user-fees" to the higher ups.
Meanwhile, our border cities are salivating over the traffic violation fines they'll be handing out, so it's pretty much win-win but for one group who'll take it where it hurts.
The American worker. In the wallet.
