MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) -- "More than two decades after the country established a uniform drinking age of 21, a nascent movement is afoot to allow 18- to 20-year-olds to legally buy alcohol under some circumstances.
Proponents say the higher age hasn't kept young people from consuming alcohol and has instead driven underage consumption underground, particularly on college campuses.
"Our laws aren't working. They're not preventing underage drinking. What they're doing is putting it outside the public eye," Vermont state Sen. Hinda Miller said."
Oh boy, Henda, thats interesting. Burglary, robbery, murder, rape, muggings, etc, are illegal, yet continue to happen.
So by your logic we should decriminalize these offenses as well since people are just gonna go ahead and do 'em no matter what.
Sweet Lord but I don't know if these people amuse me or make me sick.
We haven't been able to stop pedophiles either so I guess we should just let them continue to abuse children because then some kids might escape being murdered if the perverts are no longer afraid of being arrested. There is ALWAYS a downside to ANY law, but the liberal way of giving up because the CRIMINAL himself might come to harm is mind boggling.
